what are good sites in central Illinois for tent camping with kids, 5 and 8?

dansmith12

I want to take my niece and nephew, along with my sister and brother in law, tent camping. the kids have done backyard camp outs in a little tent last summer, my sister is not real big on camping and the kids are little. so I need a place with real toilets and showers a playground and possibly a pool or lake for swimming. The problem is so many of the more commercial campgrounds that offer these amenities are geared more towards rv's and aren't particularly tent friendly.I live in Peoria and My sister lives in Bloomington. so that is the region we are looking at

Answer
Hi!
Shawnee national forest

In Missouri, if you're ever down here, Lake Wappapello has FREE tent camping :) no showers & such (there ARE showers & running water for paid tent campers however)

try some of your local parks, too, because a lot of them you can camp in!

kids and camping????

Q. if there is a posibility there will be bears at night when camping is the camp ground ok for kids

Answer
Yes! As long as the kids know not to take food into your tent and what to do if they do see a bear.

I am looking for some unique/awesome ideas for my 9 year old girl for Christmas. Please don't give me any generic ideas, I'm looking or something really unique or cool here. Thanks for your help

Answer
Have you got a budget in mind? UK or USA?

If it's relatively high I would suggest a wigwam/tipi! An indoor one would be great if you have a play room, or large rooms or an outdoor one for sleepovers in the garden with friends in the summer! I know it sounds odd but I brought my sister one last year (9 y.o) and she adores it still! It's like a play tent only it's still alright to play in when you're an adult! (Something about that sanctuary feeling that kids love)

What do you take camping if your a kid?

#1 FAN OF

Answer
Your favorite pillow and stuffed animal.
A good book and a book light.
Your journal to keep track of your adventures.
Personal towel and toothbrush and toothpaste. Shampoo, hairbrush.
Board games and cards.
A bike or a scooter, heelys, other stuff to ride around campground if roads are safe for this.
I'm assuming the basics, like a sleeping bag, tent, flashlight, etc.
Those glow sticks are fun for running around camp in, and also for feeling brave at night in your tent.
Have fun!

I am leaving Saturday early AM to go up north. I've had something awful happen to me and I just want to die and be away from everyone and everything. I am taking a bus to the location where I will hitchhike to a suitable area and walk from there. I have a hockey bag packed with stuff. Here is what I have, if there is anything else I may need please let me know.

Lots of warm clothing
2 fishing rods
3000 ft of fishing line
lots of fishing lures/plastics
shotgun and ammo
Large 3 person tent (or do you recommend a smaller tent?)
2 axes
1 hatchet
1 shovel
100 feet of rope
2 pairs of boots
1 pair of rubber boots
2 coats
1 life jacket
1 first aid kit
paper/pen to write letters
waterproof matches
lighters
pictures of loved ones
pocket scope
tarp
hunting knife
firestarter fluid
knife + multi tool
Gloves and hats
2 sleeping bags
lots of knifes
mp3 player with about 200 AAA batteries
3 grams of marijuana and papers
a lot of food

Don't try and talk me out of it, just give me some advice. Thanks!
Going up near Georgian Bay, Ontario
I've got both a hunting and fishing liscence

Answer
I hope that you know that taking a shotgun, and ammunition for it, onto a public bus is a criminal code offence, in Canada ?

A really BAD idea, my friend.

Add the pot possession and you are looking at serious Federal Prison time, for having weapons and drugs together.

Have you looked at the calender ? Its December. Do you want to die in the woods, like that kid in NS who wandered away from his home the other day ?

Make sure you leave a will .

Which International Organization has Duty to Investigate Crimes against Children & Single Parents by Canadian?

Kevin++

I am single parent & while I never got any kind of support from Canada to help my children.

But the Toronto Police, Attorney General of Ontario & Judges have taken my business and caused my children & me suffer badly from poverty.

Here in Toronto, children involved in prostitutions, by encouragement of the Crown that makes a lot of money from strip clubs & prostitution.

I saw that teenage girls were selling themselves for Five Dollars & yong mothers working as prostitutes to "Buy Milk for their childern", or even boys has anal intercourse with their Canadian Fathers to get some money.

In the other hand, kids are working in the factories and coffee shop and McDonald, where their adult colleagues, boss and supervisors are sexually abusing them.

SO, where I can file a complaint in the International Courts to convict Canada. Canadian by paying bribes to UN and Media have made a misrepresentation of crimes in Toronto and other big cities. We have obligation to let the World

Answer
It is very sad. Canada is a real shame for Human Society.
Please send me email I will daft a complaint for you to file it with United Nations. Also there are many organizations that they help children, and single parent out side Canada.

Canadian Government they know how to steal from people in the name of Child Support, but where all these billions moneys goes we don't know.

After US attack to Afghanistan, Canadian Immigration got about $100 million dollar too help to Afghan who may come as refugee to Canada!

They put few tents in the parks, then 100 million dollars went to pockets of a group of thieves!

Holiday in Wales - Treco Park Kiln Park?

Hi I have recently wanted to go to these two holiday parks in South Wales. They are called Trecco Park, Kiln Park if anybody can tell me some information about them such as, is the food good, good / bad swimming pool, cost of most things there is it a good place to stay. We will defiantly be going to stay in a stationary caravan not a tent or portable caravan, what is the accommodation like? I have a 13 / 14 year old daughter and a 10 year old daughter do you think they would enjoy the park. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hope the hear from you!

Answer
Hi! I can't believe you asked. I went to Kiln Park years ago and it was GREAT! I know it was some time back but I had an amazing time. I can't say much about Trecco as I haven't been there but Kiln was excellent.

I remember Kiln as I was with my friends and we did all sorts. They have evening entertainment and a cabaret, loads to do (activities) and the beach is within walking distance. They do bar / nightclub nights almost every night and the crowd is generally quite friendly. They have a small convenience shop (which accepts credit cards) and though there are a few places to eat, the best and most economical food is to make your own. Every stationary caravan has a small kitchen. The convenience store can be a little pricier than your own regular convenience store or supermarket so you might find it better to take a trip down to Tescos or something before you get there.

The staff are friendly and if you go to the shows / cabarets and talent contests within the park, it's free of charge but if you want to do activities like hiring a surf board or quad bike, you'd have to speak to a local company who would then organise that for a charge. I'm not sure if your ten year old daughter is too old for this but they also have a guy dressed in a teddy bear costume (my friends terrorised him!). He was very friendly until my mate jumped him and then this angry bear started chasing my friend around the restaurant - it was hilarious (but I guess you had to be there).

I believe that both holiday parks are owned and operated by the same company. I won a talent contest at a different holiday park (called Pendine) and the prize was a short break at Kiln and a chance to take part in the grand final. If there is something your daughters (or indeed yourself or your wife) are brilliant at, take part in the contest. Even if nothing comes to mind, do it - it'll be a laugh!

Though you do get some kids that can be pests, I think you'd get them anywhere you go. My verdict: recommended!

I came across these sites on the net so you might want to do a little more research and even ring them and ask for brochures:

I hope you and your family have a good time.
