Do kids born and raised in Hawaii realize how lucky they are compared to most mainland kids?

Bobby

I know there are some crappy parts of the Hawaiian islands, but I mean kids who grew up in places like the north shore of Kauai with the magnificent, green mountains and the clear blue water and the hiking and exploring and surfing, etc...or the north shore of Oahu too... I know I know I know Hawaii has crappy public schools in general and a lot of smoking pot and a lot of poverty and everything at the stores are more expensive for them...but do the kids just recognize, or are they taught at a young age, that their hometown/island is where a lot of mainlanders dream to see one day? Are they grateful for how much they can do and explore on the island and in the water? Do they just kind of get used to the magnificent scenery and not appreciate it when they get older?
Plus they're exposed to great, deeply cultural food
Ok Ok..forget the food part

Answer
Hey, the "great, deeply cultural food" bout the only thing I agree with you bout kidz in Hawaii, ok? Can't forget that for sure, and what up with the otha posters, they got something against Spam? I mean, with fry rice, you can feed lotta hungry people onna can of spam, yeah?
Ok, joke ova, for sure the main problem I see hea Hawaii gotta be the lack of opportunity for kid to make a living, buy house, car, have family, just so spensive hea, and that lack of opportunity part of problem for kisz who born hea, oK? I mean, they see how poor economy is, and how low wages are, and how spensive housing and food is, they see the struggle of they family and friends, so even tho it nice and pretty hea, an we got beach and ocean, lotta part of Hawaii not too good for kidz, yeah? Education really suck hea, and mainly the problem is teachers union, can'tget rid of bad teacher so they can hire good one, and for sure teacher gotta change before education system improve, ok? So, kids do what they see they folks do, the do drug, alcohol, girl get pregnant, and problem jsut keep going with each generation...not too good for lotta people hea, even tho it pretty, not too good if you family living inna campground inna tent you gotta take down every day, then put up next nite, and you see adult fight, and divorce, and get drunk and get high, yeah? Big problem hea Hawaii, ok? Next time you visit, and stay ova inna resort corridor, remember, this not how vast majority of local people live, ok? Peace and aloha to you, and thank you for question, good one, ok?

Would you hire a male babysitter?

dmg

Are people prejudiced? I got a response (totally reasonable, well-written) to my babysitting ad from an (experienced 27 year old) guy. And he led by saying that he "totally understood" if I didn't want a male babysitter.

My situation is a little different, since with any potential babysitter, I'm just going to be in the house working. Partly I'm a little prejudiced in *favor* of a guy because my husband's male friends always seem to get really into playing with my son - sit down on the floor, set up the train tracks, etc. And partly because I assume that any guy who has experience babysitting is probably pretty good at it/likes it.

I guess the big fear is that the guy is a child molester? I guess if I'm honest, I would be more worried about a strange guy than a strange woman, but presumably my weirdo radar would work.

Anyway, I am curious - all other things being equal, would you have a problem with a male babysitter (not friend or relative), or prefer a female one? Do you have a reason or is it just a gut instinct thing?

Answer
Now that my son isn't a baby any more and enjoys lots of physical play, I really enjoy seeing him interact with our male friends. Daddy's boss, friend, my son's little girlfriend's Dad etc all are great at running around and wrestling and climbing and chasing and building and in general keeping up with his energy. My husband's friend even managed to fold all 6 foot plus of himself up and crawled inside my son's little play tent because he asked him to (which totally ruined my "I'm too big to fit inside with you sweetheart" excuse to not do so myself, but that's okay).

I think that male sitters and female sitters interact with kids a lot differently, but if your son and you are happy with a male sitter, that's great. I try not to worry too much about child molesters and whatnot since anyone can be a child molester and me actually being in the home with them would keep me aware (those mommy senses) if anything were wrong.

what games could i have at my wedding reception to entertain guests and especially kids?

lynn

I want to have a fun relaxed wedding reception (with about 200 guests.) It is going to be outside under a tent on a big lawn at a golf course and there is a putting green next to it that i want to bring golf balls, putters and pitching wedges for people to use. I was also wanting to set up something fun for kids to play with thats not messy (i.e. no craft table) or too expensive (i wish we could get a bouncy house.) Any ideas?

I don't know how many kids you plan on having but im am getting these for my flower girls they come with crayons so hopefully this will keep them having fun. If not then hire a "baby sitter" if your having over 10 kids you will pry want one anyway. parents tend to let their kids run around and not always keep them under control but if you give someone that as their job they can have the kids play tag.. or play other little games in a circle so that they are not being destructive

Road Trip In America but what about car hire?

M_Explorer

Me and my friends are planning a road trip around America in our gap year but you have to be at least over 21 to hire a car and in some 25

does anybody have any ideas or a solution to this?

we did think about travelling on tram but not sure how much that would cost and everything.

thank you x

Answer
I am assuming your from Europe since you use words like Tram , and hire ... We call it renting , when you get a car for a short time . I have driven from Cape cod , MA ( 45 mins south of Boston ) all the way along RT 90 to Seattle then north about 2 hrs . I also drive from British Columbia border down the west coast ( California ) to Tampa , Fl . It was amazing and I want to do more again when my kids are older ! If there is any advice I can give you I am more then happy to help ! I dont even know you and I am excited for you .

I dont know how old you are but i found this guide online , I hope it helps . http://www.autorentalguide.com/car-rentals-under-25.shtml

It also might depend on which part of the country you plan on starting in . There are some places that sell cars that might be willing to lease/rent/hire a car for a short time .

What did you mean by tram ? Bus ? Buses are fine , Greyhound is most popular , however you will see mostly highway and stop in less then desirable areas of the citys . Most bus terminals are downtown . Ticket prices vary of course . We dont have as many train stations are you do in Europe if you meant trains . Like in Florida there are none , they are trying to change it though .

I hear its cheap to travel like this in Europe , not so much here in America . There are these great campgrounds all across the our country though , they are called KOAs , they even have cabin rentals if you dont have a tent . They are nice and affordable and you do not need a reservation most of the time . Good luck !!!

How to disassemble trampoline?

kids tent hire on Ideal inflatable for the popcorn and candyfloss machines. can be used ...

Sarah

We are moving to a new house and do not want to hire a company to take apart our trampoline. How can I take apart a rectangular trampoline with a net? It is an alley oop sports trampoline. It is fairly large for practicing flips. I do not have the instructions. All answers are greatly appreciated!

Answer
I found a lot of help online for your problem. You can download assembly directions for free! You just have to know WHICH trampoline model you own. Since you did not give that info I couldn't get specifics for you. Below are the results of my search. The downloads are free. Once you get the assembly directions just start at the end and work backwards. That way you'll have the disassembly instructions AND the assembly instructions which you'll need once you move. You may have to go directly to the site to connect to the downloads .... Here is that site: www.jumpsport.com/assembly.htm ..... copy and paste ....OR search for Alley Oop Trampoline assembly instructions....click on Jump Sport

Solutions to Common Issues:
How do I install my Safety Enclosure Net on a trampoline smaller than 14 feet in diameter (for models 280, 380, and 480), and smaller than 16 feet in diameter (for model 480XT)?

My trampoline has 6 sets of legs (12 vertical legs) but I only received 8 poles. How do I attach the 8 poles?

What is the movie brokeback mountain about?

Jungle Jon

i know gay cowboys of some kind, but wats the plot?

Answer
There not gay for starters, more Bi-Sexual seeing as they both marry and have kids with the female characters played by Anne Hathaway and Michelle Williams (Who Heath Ledger had a child with in real life after the film). Jack and Ennis enter a cabin looking for work and get it looking after sheep up on Brokeback Mountain. At first they refuse to sleep in the same tent, but eventually Ennis lies next to Jack who then puts his arm over his body. Ennis is shocked but they end up making love. Years later they disguise their gay romance/affair with a fishing trip on Brokeback. Until Ennis' wife discovers the truth when she sees them both kissing outside her house. They divorce soon after that scene. The guy who hired them also knows as he had been spying on them and confronts them later in the film. One of their final scenes Jack admits he loves Ennis and wants to move to Mexico where they can be together. Ennis tells Jack he hates the way he is and its because of him. He cries into Jacks arms. Jack is then murdered for being gay while Ennis is still alive at the end, he has Jacks shirt hanging up in his bedroom which he smells and I think that's pretty much the end of the film?

How Do I Become an Alaska Fisherman?

Juan

I have heard about collage kids going to Alaska to work on Boats for the summer and making enough money to put them selves through collage. How do I land a job like that? I am from oregon, I wrestled in high school and collage so I have good work ethic. I have student loans that I would love to just pay

Thank You!

Answer
Here in Alaska I have heard about a lot of people that came to Alaska to work on a boat, but end up living in a tent from not being hired. Some even said they were told they had the job, but learned they really didn't when they got here.
Most of these ones are out of state people who have boats in Alaska. There are some Alaskans that do have boats, but some will usually only have family or friends working on them.
