Our theme is "Space Qwest", and I am teaching the pre-school age children. I can sew, and I would like to find a cheap way to make some space suits, rockets, etc.

Answer
Space Suits: Cheap white vinal table cloths and tin foil. you could cut and assemble the table cloths like a tunic, or suit and use the foil for embellishment (belt, ect)
Rockets: small- old toilet paper or paper towel cardboard tubes for the body of the rocket, contrustion paper could me made into a cone game for the nose, and also could be used for the fins. decorate with foil, paint, markers, or whatever you have handy.
If you want the kids to be inside a rocket, your biggest tool is their immagination..but you could make a tent like area large enough for you all to sit in with white sheets and make "porthole" type windows with space scenes to stick to the inside. That could be neat. Hope that helps some.

What a good birthday present for a little boy who is 11 that is not so expensive?

Addison

He is a country little boy!

Answer
I have a 10 year old.

He loves Legos and video games.
Board games is a good idea because there is a huge variety and they have to play with someone else.
Sport equipment is good to get them outside - balls, etc.
If he likes to read, a good book can always be good. My son loves reading the Guinness Book of World Records.
Walkie Talkies
Tools - so he can start his own collection and maybe fix or build something.
If he is involved or going to be involved with boy scouts, something for camping would be awesome - tent, sleeping bag, flashlight...
Science Kit
Rocket
Model airplane or car
Catapult kit
Watch

Good luck. Every kid is so different, so you need to see what they like.
