What are some must-have snacks while camping?

candace191

My family and I are going camping. There will be my husband and I along with three children. We will be tent camping and need some ideas for some easy, yet satisfying snacks. Snacks can be kept in our cooler or dry. We prefer snacks that take little to no preparation. Thanks!!

Answer
That's great you are going camping, we camp every weekend. I usually take things like those p'nut butter sandwhich crackers, smores are great but remember the chocolate melts and so do the marshmallows into one icky mess. Trail mix is good, the kind you make yourself with m&m's, marshmallows, raisins, etc. (keep in cool place). Go-gurt, poptarts, apples, oranges, watermelon and cantelope already cubed. Cheez-it's too.
Do forget to pick up some glow sticks (necklaces) for the kids at night, they love them.

Does anyone have any good summer love stories when you were young?

Like with a guy/girl that you like. Staying up late at night with them hanging out. I always wanted to experience that with someone I think its cool. Could you share your story like a summary? Eric Church's Springsteen makes me think of that lol (:

Answer
So here's my story(Since I had nothing better to do on a saturday evening :P)

It was mid august and I decided to go up to summer camp for a couple of weeks.
By my surprise there were already a few people that I knew that were going.Jackson a guy that I barely knew at the time and Trenton,a good but younger friend of mine.So when I got there I greeted Trenton and I said Hello to Jackson.A few days later I started hanging out with Jackson. He was so sweet and so kind to me.Then one warm evening he confessed his love for me at the beach, where the sun was gently setting. It was romantic. At the time, we were both 14 years old.So yep,we had loads of energy to stay up very late at night and gaze at the stars. So when it was about 2am we would sneak out of our large canvas tents and meet at the campsite docks. We would tell stories about our lives and wonder if we were soul mates for life.We would also go sailing together.Every night before going to bed,we would build a campfire and sing songs until we were sleepy and went to bed and got back up at 2.It was the best summer of my life and I will never forget it.

How can I design a camping themed room for my 10 year old?

Q. My son loves the outdoors. He wants his room to be a camping theme. In other words, he wants a tent to sleep in, things with boats, fishing, etc. I would love for him to have a tent to sleep in, but I also want to put his mattress in the tent so he won't have to sleep on the floor!! Is this doable? How big of a tent would I have to get? Can you even put a tent up in your house without having to stake it down?
Any ideas would be great!
Thanks!

Answer
there are many toy tents available these days for kids in the market made of parachute material that are long lasting and i guess they are big enough to accomodate a mattress, if not, even if the mattress peaks out a little, it is no problem, you can rope in the tent higher and it will give a spread over effect, these tents are meant for small children only and can be placed in the rooms!

along with it, you can go to a supermarket and check out the fishing section, there you will find wooden boats decorated in corners, you can buy one of these and place it in one corner of the room, it will give the out door effect, you can also get a artifical tree to place in one corner of the room, it will all enhance the outdoor effect, apart from that, try to

How to pack for camping and have everything organized?

we enjoy the outdoors and camping, we have bought many items during the years and now we have many things, and they get everywhere in the car during the trip. How do you pack kitchen items: paper plates, utensils, paper towel? bed items (they are bulky)? mosquito repellent bottles ( they love me )I usually put kitchen stuff in a plastic container, but to reach the bottom I have to take everything on top. Any creative ideas? tips? I may buy a space saver bag for the bedding, has anybody tried that.

Answer
For car-camping I use a medium-size Rubbermaid Action Packer bin with sheets of plastic (lexan? stuff from Home Depot) cut into 11" tall dividers and duct-taped into place for my kitchen box. There's room in the box for my pots and pans, three propane canisters, plastic plates and bowels, napkins, trash bags and space for most of my dry foods. On the very top I lay my large griddle, cutting board, campfire grate, collapsible sink, axe, folding saw and 1/2 rolls of paper towels. I have a mesh organizer I made myself and screwed to the inside of the bin's lid to hold my cooking and eating utensils.

I can then strap my Coleman stove and el-cheapo propane grill on top of this. When I get to camp, all the stuff on the top of the bin comes out and generally stays out until it's time to pack-up and go, and the stuff underneath is stored vertically instead of flat, so there's no digging for buried items. The lid, with the utensils attached, also comes out and stays on the mesh shelf under my camp kitchen unit (small folding table with grill shelf).

Generally speaking, each person -- child or adult -- is responsible for carrying their own clothing and sleeping kit. All our sleeping bags compress well into their stuff sacks, and we use self-inflating mattresses that also roll-up tight. The sleeping bags go inside each person's duffel bag or backpack on top of their clothing and personal items, and the mattress gets strapped outside to the top or side. Clothing is organized into dry bags to protect from any weather or mishaps, and for organization. We also use one of the drybags full of clothes with a pillow case instead of a pillow. Each person is also responsible for their own toiletries, which go in a small nylon bag stored the outside pocket of the duffel bag or backpack, along with sun block, insect repellent, flashlight or headlight with extra batteries.

If you are using regular bedding you'll find that sleeping bags will take a lot less space and weight, particularly if you use a compression bag (just remember to loosen the compression bag during storage at home so the insulation doesn't go flat). Our bags compress down to about 9x12". As mentioned above, we put a pillow case over our clothing's dry bags to use as a pillow, or you can get inflatable pillows. Also, camp towels or large "Sham Wow" type towels take up much less room than regular household towels but work just as well, and dry more quickly.

The tent, 2 LED lanterns, 2 bag chairs, roll-up table, dining tarp with poles go into one large duffel. This sometimes leaves one or two loose chairs to sling over your shoulder.

If necessary, I can stack the two coolers, Rubbermaid bin, stove and grill onto a folding luggage cart and drag it to the campsite on one trip, then return and strap the water container, large duffel, and camp kitchen to the cart for my second trip.

How can I decorate my preschool classroom in a camping theme?

katie

I teach preschool, and I have four year olds. The theme for next semester in my class is camping and the outdoors and I need ideas of ways to incorporate that into my classroom. My class is kind of small, but I need any ideas anyone has to help. I love my kids and really want to make this as fun and special or them as I can!!!

Answer
You might want to make your reading corner out of a little pup-tent. If you put a kid size sleeping bag in the pup-tent a child can lie down while reading (and still be visible- which is always a good thing.

You can also use one or two camp chairs (especially if you get the kid size ones) for them to sit in while they read.Add this to the campfire idea mentioned by another reader and you have a whole camp site.

Check with your local free-cycling group (there are a lot of these groups on Yahoo Groups) for free sources for some of these items. You can also go to Goodwill, or Thrift Shops. That way you can amaze the children without breaking the bank.

If you are allowed to, you can make some trees out of twisted butcher paper, (large carpet rolls are also an alternative). Then you could fasten stuffed animals like raccoons or owls in the tree's branches.

You could also try to find some bulletin board sets that go with your theme to add continuity to the room. The animal friends calendar set below is one possibility. And you could post the kids names on the bears in canoes accents under a heading that reads something like

Miss _____________'s Happy Campers

Good luck with the new school year!

Devan

If you cut your own childhood short, like you didn't watch cartoons because you were too "old" for cartoons. Or too mature to play tag, could that affect you later in life? Like a person gets sucked back into things that they missed as a kid.

Answer
Yes. I forced myself to grow up, because I felt that being child like was immature. What I didn't realize was that there is a difference between being child like, and child-ISH, the latter one being more the definition of immature. There is nothing wrong with being child like. To be like a child means to look for the joy in every experience. Live for the moment. Do things that your heart desires to do, without caring what others think about you. I think kids know more about their true self than most adults do. I look at my daughter, and she knows exactly what she needs to be happy. And it's always something simple. Like a hug, or a good laugh, or a good story.Think how easy it is to please a child. They have no worries, they live for the moment and enjoy the ride. We as adults are still capable of dealing with adult responsibilities, and still be child like as well. When I grew up and had kids, the child in me started to come out again, because I had suppressed it for so long. And I can tell you that I have no greater feeling of joy than when I play with my kids. We make up stories, we build tents, we play zoo, and army men, we jump on the bed, I even play with them on the McDonalds' playground. Being child like keeps you young, and helps you remember what is important in life- joy and love. That's all a kid needs to survive. Be child like for as long as you can. You will feel no greater sense of freedom.

How do you make a homemade teepee for the living room?

mrscjsimon

I'm having difficulty finding info online on how to make a teepee for the living room, like you would a tent using sheets and chairs. I'm sure there is a way to make is quickly and simply using objects around the house, and I finally found something in a search online, but then it said "page not found". I have a few days to do this. Thanks.

Answer

The major problem with your request is that chairs are not conducive to tipi shapes -- you need some poles.

But generally speaking, kids are well entertained with sheets or blankets draped over anything into a tent shape. Many an afternoon has been spent under a sheet-draped card table...

What are the best RV campgrounds in Central Florida to bring small children to?

Beachy Kee

My husband and I recently got an RV and have been taking our 2 small boys camping for about the past year. What are the best campgrounds that are the most kid friendly. We have 1 year old and 3 year old boys.

Answer
If I could I would stay at the Disney Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. You can stay there and enjoy all the ammenities of a Disney resort without even having to pay to go to the parks. There is a pool, horseback riding, tennis, archery, crusing on the Disney lakes, petting zoo, playgrounds and so much more. Be sure to click the link on the sources section, for much more detailed info from www.allears.net.

Here's a little more info:
There are 788 conventional campsites at FW located in 20 loops (100 through 2000). Most sites are fairly secluded from one another by a generous growth of brush and trees between sites. All campsites are back-ins and are a combination of paved driveway, which range in length from 25 to 60 feet, and sandy pad. Each site is approximately 25 feet wide and comes with a picnic table and charcoal grill. All sites have electricity (20/30/50 amps) and city water. There are 695 full hookup sites that also provide sewer. The 90 partial hookup sites, primarily used by tent campers and those with tent trailers, are located on loops 1500 and 2000.

It used to be that you couldn't have a campfire at the sites, because they worried about people letting them get out of control etc. But! this policy changed.

You can bring in your own contained campfire unit. Typically, stores call them firepits or outdoor fireplaces. It's a solid metal bottom on short legs with metal mesh sides and a top. A mesh top is okay at all campsites EXCEPT any of those that are creekside. If you have a creekside spot, you must have a solid metal top for your firepit. This is to better prevent embers from spreading to the greater amount trees and foliage (and wildlife) that are around the creeks. For example, the creek/dog walk along Loop 300 has a large wooded area with deer, eagles, armadillos and more making their home there.

Of course, Fort Wilderness also has the Campfire Program where you can enjoy campfires as well as everything offered at this special program.

How soon can you camp with a baby?

gimpyshake

I don't mean back country camping, yet. For now I am just talking about "get out of your car and set up a tent" camping. any concerns or ideas I should think about before camping with our baby.

Answer
I camped with my baby when he was an infant. It was easy for me because I nursed all my children, I would think that if you don't nurse your child it would be a problem to keep the milk fresh, unless you just have the powder stuff and add water, but then you can't heat it.

I had an extra small tent that we took for him to stay in when we hung out near the water, so he would not be overexposed to the sun.

Women have babies out in rice fields and go right back to work with them on their back. You can go camping with them at any age.

Make sure you bring all the things you would bring when going out. baby rash meds, baby aspirin, plenty of wipes and diapers, make sure you bring extra bags to dispose of diapers if you are not near a trash can. Definitely get some type of sun screen for babies and a hat is essential. if the baby will allow it, you can even get baby sunglasses.

also, make sure, if you need a bug repellent, it is safe for baby, they tend to put everything in their mouths.

Good luck and have a great time!

How to throw a neighboorhood party???

katieinok

I would like to be brave this year and get to know my neighbors in my cul-de-sac (about 10 house) and thought it would be fun to do a cookout this summer. Like getting some tables and a tent and setting them up in the middle of the cul-de-sac. What are some good ideas? I really am clueless.

Answer
Have activities for the children - parents will be more relaxed and can have more fun if the kids are safely occupied.
BBQ also helps because it gives ppl a chance to mingle as the meal is being prepared.

Don't forget safety - nothing is more off-putting than watching flies descend on lunch.

Get music - involve the teenagers and let them pick the music. They'll have fun with that.

How do I make hoop tunnel for dog agility?

kids tents tunnels on Tunnel-Toy-kids-Play-Tub-Patch-Pop-Up-Discovery-Tent-Pacific-Tents ...
kids tents tunnels image

Brooke A

Currently, I'm using a construction-type ditch pipe. I'd also like to know where I can purchase some nylon for the tunnel cover.

Answer
Bad idea. A good agility dog comes out of a tunnel faster than he went in it (and he went in it fast). That's because they can use the cloth of the tunnel for purchase. And they can run on the walls using centrifugal force. And the tunnel has give.

Your construction pipe will be slick inside and therefore difficult to get purchase on. The dog will have trouble running on the sides. Most importantly, when the enters at an angle and hits solid pipe, he'll learn to slow up. Your pipe will be teaching the dog to SLOW up when entering the tunnel. Totally wrong approach.

A stiff cardboard box is a far superior alternative. Dog's don't perceive the world the way we do. You see a pipe as similar to a tunnel because you're focusing on shapes. A dog sees a stiff card board box as similar to a competition grade tunnel because his experience running inside is more similar than it would be running inside a construction-grade pipe (that is more similar in shape to a competition-grade tunnel). Don't think like a human, think like a dog!

As for making/acquiring a tunnel:
--Look at Affordableagility.com and you'll find a competition-grade tunnel for $150.
--If you really want to go cheap, go to Target or JC Penny and buy a plastic kid's tunnel for $20. That is less than the material you'll spend MAKING a tunnel.
--If you insist on MAKING a tunnel, than the key is the piping that provides a secure but flexible tunnel frame. Almost any cloth that is stiff nylon or rip-stop will do keeping in mind that without any kind of rubber treat, your tunnel will develop rot and mold very quickly and will probably last less than 12 months (unless you can move it inside).

However, I suspect you aren't really trying to make a tunnel but a chute. In which case your approach makes more sense.

1. Go to affordable agility. Buy "agility in a bag." For $150 you get 6 PVC weave poles, 2 PVC adjustable jumps, a worthless pause box, a mediocre tire, and a perfectly useable chute (short tunnel with very appropriate cloth chute). It's worth the time and money you'd spend making the darn thing to just buy the kit. It even comes with a travel bag!
2. If you insist on making a chute, I still wouldn't use the construction ditch pipe. The challenge with the chute is to get material that isn't too light or too heavy. Too light and it becomes easily tangled, your dog will panic and you've trained them not to like the chute. To heavy and a small dog can't push it's way through. Some tent tarps or extendable covers (at a Target or camping store) might be appropriate as long as they aren't heavy duty material. Often times, tents or sunshades will have an extendable awning--that's the kind of material (and probably in an appropriate size) you'd be looking for. But the catch is--that will probably cost you more than it would to just buy the chute from Affordable agility.

What are you getting your babies for Christmas?

What are some must-have snacks while camping?

Do you have any tips for camping with young children?

yahooey

We have done it before...but it has been almost 2 years. We will be tent camping with a 2 1/2 and 5 year old. We got a site with both electrical and water hookup. Any tips would be great, thanks!
we'll be at the beach.

Answer
bring their bike :) we went camping on the weekend and it was a very kid friendly park where they had activities every hour planned for the kids and it was so much fun but all the kids had bikes and my son was the only one without one.

glow sticks and sparklers are great for night time. We bought some chalk at the dollar store and my son was playing with it and like 5 kids flocked over to play with him, it was a great friend maker :)

get a laundry basket and fill it with your cooking items, that way everything is together so you can whip up a quick meal.

How to stop toddler getting cold in bed?

My two year old sleeps in a single bed, but up until now has still been in his Grobag. He's tall for his age and is therefore getting too big for the sleeping bag, but when I try him under the duvet no matter how well I tuck it in he ends up uncovered and cold in the night.

Has anyone ideas on how to address this? I've seen duvet clips in the shops, but am not sure I like the idea of pinning him under the covers like that.

Answer
Will he wear fleece footie pajamas? I know some kids won't, but my son loves them and they keep him warm throughout the night because he's zipped up from head to toe in a little cocoon...

If he won't, you can always try to get a bigger sleeping bag... my son has a toddler size Transformers one from Target that he snuggles with in the play tent in his room; it was pretty cheap but very warm.

Personally, I wouldn't try a heater just because my toddler is always curious and the orange glow from the heater would just be asking for my son to reach out and grab it, obviously leading to far worse problems. Maybe if you can get one that can go on a shelf or somewhere out of reach, that could work for you. I personally wouldn't risk having one of those around my child while he is unsupervised. lol
Good luck =)

I wish my 4 year old wanted sports, I have found many more ideas and things to go with sports. but he wants monster trucks! I may get a tire and dip it in brown paint and make muddy tire tracks over his blue walls. Then hang posters up and maybe even get a wall murial. Also hang or paint road signs. if you do a search on wall murials and/or road signs you will find lots of ideas. the murials are really too expensive for me so I may try to do it myself! How Hard Is It For US Citizen To Work In Aus?

kids tents australia on VW Kombi Camper Kids Play Tent - Compare Prices and Deals, Shop & Buy ...
kids tents australia image

mariasonaw

25 years old, moving to AUS, have 12 month VISA. How hard will it be to find a job and move to Australia. No college, just general accounting/admin experience, looking to make at least $80k/yr in AUS. VISA says can only work for 6 months for one company, then have ot quit. VISA says have to leave AUS in Sept 2013.

Thsi is my kid. I think it is unrealistic, leaving Saturday. I am pretty worried! I expect a "boomerang" back home in Sept.....I can't afford to support financially if this all falls apart. Kid is convined it is easy to move to AUS, get a job, says everyone makes more $$, lots of jobs...I am skeptical

Answer
Your 'kid' is dreaming if s/he thinks they have the slightest chance of earning 80k with no qualifications on a visa on which they are only allowed to work for each employer for 6 months. For starters, they will have a very hard time finding successive 6 month full time accounting/admin work (not nearly enough jobs of that kind to meet demand) but even if they can, they won't pay anything over 50k and even that will be a stretch. Add to that the fact that the only possibility of that kind of job will be in our handful of large cities where accommodation costs are among the highest in the world and you'll see that your misgivings are well founded. S/he probably won't have much trouble finding casual food service or bar work which pays a high hourly rate compared to those jobs in the USA, but there will be no tips and little prospect of much more than part time hours for earnings of maybe 40k if s/he is a really good worker.

Work and Holiday visas are NOT work visas. They are holiday visas on which holders can work to supplement the funds of AUD$5000 they are expected to have when they arrive. W&HV holders typically backpack around the country staying in cheap hostels and tents and crappy share houses and live frugally for the experience of a lifetime but they rarely do much more than survive.

Are they going to have the reverse day care tent at warped tour 2010?

I not trying to have organized games for the kids, but more like stations with things for the kids to play with. I am going to have a small ball pit and a tent tunnel/crawl through area. what fun activity/ies can i do with my friends on a weekend as a celebration to my birthday?

nataliya05

i want to go someplace with my friends for either a one day trip or a weekend to celebrate my 19th birthday. i was thinking of something along the lines of hiking, or going skydiving, or going to see some interesting places. (i wish we could go to grand canyon but it is too far, i need something near NY) Does anyone know of any places or activities that i can plan to do on my birthday? I need to plan this by september 22nd.

Thanks to all who will reply.

Answer
Happy Birthday a little early to you. I like the skydiving thing but, just remember it can get expensive. If that is something you want to do you might want to check out these websites:
http://www.newyorkskydiving.com/
http://www.skysthelimit.net/
http://www.longislandskydiving.com/sitemap.asp

I would also be sure you ask them about their safety record and maybe do a little âbackgroundâ check on them. You are trusting them with your life after all! It really is a good time, just pick a safe company.

What about going camping for a weekend?? That is always fun, maybe you all could pick a place that has hiking, canoeing and some other activities. OK so it might not be as adventurous as Skydiving, but it can be cheap and fun! You could also find a park that has cabins for rent if you all donât want to do the tent thing. Here are some state parks that have different accommodations:

Allegany State Park

Salamanca, NY 14779

Beaver Pond Campgrounds - Harriman State Park

Bowman Lake State Park

Oxford, NY 13830
Phone:
(607) 334-2718

(800) 456-2267

Keuka Lake State Park
3370 Pepper Road
Bluff Point, NY 14478
Phone:
(315) 536-3666
Reservations:
(800) 456-2267

There are so many wonderful places to camp, or stay in cabins you will want to check out this site for more info:
http://nysparks.state.ny.us/parks/

I donât know who you all plan on taking but, what about doing a day spa thing and then a nice dinner and stay at a hotel? That could be fun. I am sure that a spa somewhere is running a special.

What about going Bungee Jumping?? Almost like skydiving, well kinda! It could be fun take a weekend and combine camping/cabin ect with a little adventureâ¦. I did bungee and I really liked it. I did not do it in NY so I am sorry I cannot tell you about companies but, check out this site it will help you find a place!
http://www.planjam.com/bungee.html

What about going into NYC and site seeing? Donât know if you have done this or not but, it can be fun! Itâs your birthday pick the places you want to see, you want to eat at ect⦠You could also go to Coney Island or the beach those are always good options. What about taking surf lessons??? There are tons of surf shops by the beach that offer lessons. You and your friend could have a great time doing this! Get a place near the beach and have a great weekend!

Go site see at Niagara Falls. Donât know if you have ever been there but, it really is cool. Again you could camp or get a room. There is tons of stuff to see and the falls are just amazing!

Okay now here is a crazy idea, my friends and I for my 20th birthday got together and had a slumber party at one of those indoor kids places, Tumble Drum where I live. You know one of those places that has the indoor play ground. We put together games and we really had a good time. We had pizza and acted like kids for the evening, they had tunnels, slides and more. Yeah they built this place for kids but, this was one of my best birthdays. We had a great time and well for our age it was just crazy!

Speaking of slumber parties you could always have one and do silly games, do something like a driving scavenger hunt those are always fun. Make up a list of things each team has to findâ¦.spread the places out so they have to drive, put a time limit on it and the team to bring back the most wins. Put a time limit on it so your friends come back! Have food delivered; get some good movies you want to see. I know sounds childish but, my friend and I try to do this once a year and we just have a great time!

What about a roadtrip?? Look at a map and find some places you have always wanted to go, map your highways and set out on an adventure, heck don't even find places just pick some highways and go for it! You never know what you will discover and you all will have a great time!

Is there a concert, play or something else you want to see coming in town?? Yeah it might not be on your birthday but, a group of you going to see something you want to see and having some dinner can really be a lot of fun! I guess the best answer for you is be creative, think outside the box, think of things YOU want to do, have always wanted to do and plan it. After all it is your day! I hope this helps you good luck!

kids tents at walmart image

goodluckch

And did this happen when you were young, High School/college, or as an adult? (I just have all kinds of weird questions brewing in my noggin haha)

Answer
The craziest thing I have ever done was a wet t-shirt contest in Daytona on spring break my senior year of high school. I had sex in a bathroom at Disenyworld when I was 20. My boyfriend had his shoes off, and this little kid asked his dad why the man in the stall had his shoes off, and the dad said never mind that son.....lol.

The funniest thing was when I was on a class trip to a school for the mentally handicapped, I slipped on the wet floor by the pool, and all the mentally handicapped kids pointed and yelled RETARD RETARD, and they were laughing at me. It was so funny. Also one time at the beach me and my friends would run down the beach and then when we got close to people we would fall down and act like it was accident. Also, one time we put dog poop in a couple purses and we took the purses to Walmart and burger king and gave them to employees and told them we had found someone's purse. When they opened it up to look for the person's ID they would get all grossed out. It was soooo funny at the time. Now I'm old and think it's gross, but it was funny when I was young.

I just remembered another thing. When I first got married my husband and I went camping. We bought a tent, that was on sale. When we set it up it was just this little tiny tent. So my husband and I had had to sleep with our feet and legs sticking out of the tent. The camp ground was crowded with people, so the next morning when we woke up this little kid was just standing by our feet. He said my tent is bigger then your tent, and then he just ran away.

I want to know what to get my 3 & 4 year old nieces for Christmas?

A

I'm going to be shopping early. I have 4 nieces, a nephew on the way due in December, and my daughter. Kids get expensive so I'm looking for sibling toys or whatever for two of them that they can share. Hopefully something not too expensive. Any idea's are grateful, I already know clothes as an option, but that's not really fun for them until they get older, right?
Also, what do five year old girls like?

Answer
Inflatable bouncer, Jump-o-lene Jump n Gym. Free shipping from Amazon, free site to store shipping from Walmart. Goes on sale about every other week on Amazon. $30-$40.

Playhut tents run about $20. These can be bought at most toy stores.

Playskool Honeybee Hop. It's an active game that can be played indoors on hardwood floor. The kids jump over the spinning bee. $20 on Amazon, goes on sale about once a month.

Dress up trunks. Walmart carries them, you can buy them online. You pay about $20-$30 and get 3 or 4 outfits for dress up.

Walmart has a Homestyle Kitchen for $45. Don't forget free site to store shipping. This kitchen rates 4 stars out of 957 customer reviews. It takes on average 2 hours to assemble.

As for a 5 year old, I'm not sure.

as far as activities go-what do you like to do with your friends at their houses? how about a TV for your room? dart board? is there room for a pool table or other type of game table? how about a table for puzzles? you could get beanbag chairs and play board games on the floor. get stuff to do makeovers (nail polish, face masks, make-up, etc....)

I also recommend if you have a yard, to get sports equiptment to enjoy the outdoors with your friends-thats what i did as a kid. there are all kinds of fun things to do outside (capture the flag was my fave!)

make yoru room comfy for just hanging out and listening to music and/or talking too.
