Okay My son's birthday is soon and I am planning on just having a sleepover party in lieu of a Birthday party. Please help. How many kids should I allow? Should I have them come late in the day and picked up in the am. What activities can I plan to do? my son has never had sleepover and I really have never planned one. Please help.

Answer
I would only allow about four friends at most to attend. If they bring sleeping bags.

Have them come before dinner, do an outdoors-in-tents sleepover, barbecue hot dogs for dinner and make some'mors for dessert, tell a fun story, catch lightning bugs, look at the stars, that kind of thing.

Or have them come at noon, take them to the museum, then home to watch Night at the Museum. Or a dinosaur movie, or whatever.

I would have them picked up around 10:00-11:00, unless you have plans.

What rides are a must when you go to Disney World Florida? What hotels are offer excellent service?

Moose

I dont care about any other Disney theme parks, just the one in Orlando.

Answer
If you can afford it, the "A" hotels are truly dreamy -- great service and great views. Savannah view rooms at Animal Kingdom Lodge let you see wildlife while enjoying breakfast in bed. The Polynesian is within walking distance of Magic Kingdom and the nightly fireworks are visible from the lake shore behind the hotel.

The "C" hotels are the lowest price, and get you all the perks and privileges of being a WDW guest, but I think it's a better value to pay a little more for a "B" hotel and have more amenities (like water slides and hot tubs, bigger rooms with fridge and microwave) OR bring my tent to Fort Wilderness and enjoy really low prices AND be able to set up a camp kitchen. (Disney food can be VERY expensive.) If you are bringing kids, there is more for them to amuse themselves with at Fort Wilderness (especially if you bring or rent bikes) so they're not underfoot in your hotel room all the time. Choose a hotel in your price range by location, something adjacent to the park you visit most often.

Best rides:
Animal Kingdom. Take the safari ride http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/attractionDetail?id=KilimanjaroSafarisAttractionPage first because the animals are most active in the early morning unless it's an unusually chilly day. Then do the time travel dinosaur ride (forget the name) and Everest Expidition coaster. Make some time to see some of animal shows too. The bird show is especially amazing, with trained birds interacting with audience members and an after show opportunity to see the birds up close and ask questions of the handlers. AK restaurants are nothing special, mostly snack bars with astronomically priced 'bronto burgers & T-rex fries,' but the Rain Forest Cafe is delighful, if pricey. If there is RFC near your home, it will be identical except for lower prices and no Disney theme items in the gift shops.

Epcot. A great mix and match of things. My favorite is Ellen's Energy Adventure, a must for fans of Ellen Degeneres, Jeopardy, or Dinosaur animatronics http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/attractionDetail?id=EllensEnergyAdventureAttractionPage. There are quite a few hi-tech interactive playrooms for kids; some kids could spend hours at this and others get bored quickly. The Epcot World Village area is an assortment of complexes within the park, each with a national theme such as Japan, Norway, France, or Morroco. Most have a gift shop with authentic items from the host nation, a restaurant or two serving the national cuisine, and some also have a ride or presentation about the host nation. There are usually dance and music troops giving sidewalk entertainment at each pavillion. On my last visit, I was trying to imitate and Irish dance step, and dancer stepped out to give me an improptu private lesson!
The Norway ride is really exciting (compared with the other pavillion attractions, that is) and the French Bakery serves a reasonably priced, delicious sandwish and desert with a small bottle of wine or 'sidewalk' dining. If dining and shopping are important to you, Epcot is your place. Make sure to take advantage of 'will call' for your purchases; pick the up at guest services as you leave the park or have them delivered to your (on campus) room. If The Living Seas restaurant is still serving, invest in at least one day of Disney Dining Plan to have dolphins, giant rays, and huge sea turtles swimming past your table. Make reservations way in advance to get 'aquarium side' seating.

My MGM favorites are http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/attractionDetail?id=IndianaJonesEpicStuntSpectacularAttractionPage, http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/attractionDetail?id=TheDisneyMGMStudiosBacklotTourAttractionPage, which includes Catastrophe Canyon, http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/attractionDetail?id=TheGreatMovieRideAttractionPage, where the Wicked Witch of the West plunges you into a movie magic dimension that includes Wild West Gun Fights, Scarlette O'Hara's Tara, and other classic film scenes. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/dining/diningDetail?id=PrimeTimeCafeDiningPage is a Fifties Diner with the world's freshest, snarkiest waitersses; be prepared for a lecture on finishing your vegetables! Toy Story Pizza Planet is favorite with children. It's been many years since my last visit to MGM, and there are a lot of new rides and shows I'm not familiar with.

Magic Kingdom. The first and still the best. This is where you'll find the iconic Cinderella Castle, Mad Teaparty (ride a whirling tea cup), and Flying Dumbos. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/attractionDetail?id=JungleCruiseAttractionPage, http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/attractionDetail?id=TheHauntedMansionAttractionPage, http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/attractionDetail?id=PiratesoftheCaribbeanAttractionPage, http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/attractionDetail?id=TheEnchantedTikiRoomUnderNewManagementAttractionPage, http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/attractionDetail?id=CountryBearJamboreeAttractionPage, and http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/attractionDetail?id=BigThunderMountainRailroadAttractionPage sound like a lot to cram into one day, but you want to stay late to see the fireworks show anyways, right? MK has the best parades, real 'must see' shows with amazing special effects floats and "real live" Disney characters. It's an easy walk from MK to The Polynesian Resort, for relaxed poolside dining. (Visit the hotel convenience store for a box of crackers, pound of cheese, jug of a drink, and a few apples to create an picnic meal economy meal. You can also watch the MK fireworks from the lake shore behind The Polynesian.

Indulge in at least one Character Dining experience to get the best photo ops with Mickey. Since rides 'conveniently' disembark within gift shops, start training your family right now to don't touch, don't even look, just walk by. Those $8 Mickey shoe laces and $12 'ear' hats can add up in a hurry.

If you're spending more than 4-5 days at WDW, you might want to plan a relaxing afternoon at Typhoon Lagoon. Kids can slide and surf while adults veg in lounge chairs or float round and round the circular Lazy River. Last time I was there, we were permitted to bring in a small picnic with ice chest and igloo jug of screwdrivers. Relaxed parents indeed! Thank Goodness for the WDW transportation system.

Give WDW a call right now at Guest Information
(407) 939-6244. These agents are knowledgable and helpful, very active in suggesting you most economical option rather than (like some other major Orlando attaction that I won't name) constantly urgint you to upgrade and spend more. Skip the cost of Park Hopper, unless you want to visit another theme pard after Animal Kingdom, which closes early so the animals can sleep. Any one park has plenty to keep you amused all day long, and you want to spend in the park, not spending 60-90 minutes getting from one park to another. If someone in your party would enjoy (not need, just enjoy) a wheelchair, rent one off campus for a week for about the same price you'd by the day at WDW. It won't let you skip lines, but it will give you a cart to carry your stuff on and a handy place to give your feet a rest. Everyone should have a compact rain poncho and dry sox (quick drying synthetic, not cotton) as Florida rains are very sudden and very hard, but short.

Have fun and tell Pluto (my favorite) that I'll be seeing him in December.

Is it possible to cut your own childhood short?

If you cut your own childhood short, like you didn't watch cartoons because you were too "old" for cartoons. Or too mature to play tag, could that affect you later in life? Like a person gets sucked back into things that they missed as a kid.

Answer
Yes. I forced myself to grow up, because I felt that being child like was immature. What I didn't realize was that there is a difference between being child like, and child-ISH, the latter one being more the definition of immature. There is nothing wrong with being child like. To be like a child means to look for the joy in every experience. Live for the moment. Do things that your heart desires to do, without caring what others think about you. I think kids know more about their true self than most adults do. I look at my daughter, and she knows exactly what she needs to be happy. And it's always something simple. Like a hug, or a good laugh, or a good story.Think how easy it is to please a child. They have no worries, they live for the moment and enjoy the ride. We as adults are still capable of dealing with adult responsibilities, and still be child like as well. When I grew up and had kids, the child in me started to come out again, because I had suppressed it for so long. And I can tell you that I have no greater feeling of joy than when I play with my kids. We make up stories, we build tents, we play zoo, and army men, we jump on the bed, I even play with them on the McDonalds' playground. Being child like keeps you young, and helps you remember what is important in life- joy and love. That's all a kid needs to survive. Be child like for as long as you can. You will feel no greater sense of freedom.

What size of camping tent should I choose?

best camping tent for kids image

Adela

I am planning a camping trip with two friends. We need to buy a camping tent but I don't know what size of the tent is suitable for three people. I did a little search online and someone said should choose a tent which can accommodate two more person because there must be some space for the camping equipment. Is this true? Is a five man tent a little larger for three?

Answer
A five man tent is just fine. I do a lot of camping and I use a 2-3 person tent for just me, and a 4 person tent when I take the wife and kid along.

Unless your back country camping you can't go wrong with getting a bigger roomier tent.

How to camp without most camping equipment?

Blaine Sim

Me and the family are going to a family reunion, and most of the family are staying in tents and camping while my family are staying in a cabin. I don't want to stay in a cabin, I want to Bear Gryll my way through the weekend. I don't have a tent, and as far as I know, I don't have a sleeping bag. I do however, have tools essential for a proper camping trip. (machete, cooler, lighter, water bottle, playboy mags, flashlight, filter etc) I would appreciate it if someone could give me some camping/survival tips, or point me in the right direction as far as internet tutorials go, whether it is an article or a Youtube video etc. Although it would be preferred if someone knowledgeable of surviving in the wild would answer my question, and give a detailed, several paragraph answer on the essentials of hardcore survival. (even if I will just be within spitting distance of my cabin, albeit, a very far spitting distance. Like a genetically modified camels version of a spitting distance.)

Thanks in advance.

Answer
Learn to camp with equipment and prepare for any circumstance, then decide how to camp with less.

In my pockets, I always carry a pocket knife and fire starter, tissues or lint packets, along with several bandages in my wallet. Although reception does not exist in many gulches, I carry a cell phone that usually functions above tree-line.

In my daypack, I have compression sacks that hold my down jacket, heat packs, windbreaker, and down mittens or lighter gloves. I carry a second fire starter and two headlamps with extra batteries. I pack trail snacks, such as cheese, nuts, and rice chips. Attached by carabiner, I have at least two water bottles, sunglasses, reading glasses, and global positioning system. On most hikes, I also carry a water filter.

"The Bolivar Peninsula may be where you want to go. There are over thirty miles of beach to camp on. You can drive on all of the beaches.

After the flashing light when you get off of the ferry(at Fisherman's Cove motel), go about a mile or so and you will find Rettilon Rd (nolitter backwards). Turn right. It takes you to the beach and a good area to camp.

One thing new is a County Beach Parking Permit. You can buy them at almost any store or real estate office on the Peninsula. It's only ten bucks. The sheriffs don't really enforce it unless you are creating trouble or they want to roust you. The permit is not needed for driving on the beach, just parking.

Campfires are allowed but not big bonfires. Don't camp in front of someone's beachhouse. It bugs them. Unless you really like to party, avoid the part of the beach in Crystal beach known as the "ZOO". Sheriffs work this area hard and there are a lot problems there. Remember, no glass containers and no beer after 2am."

We love to cook and do crafts together but could use some new ideas to mix things up!!!

Answer
My niece and nephews love "Theme Day". When I know that I will have them all day, and we have to stay indoors (which is already a challenge), I pick a theme ahead of time and use it all day. For example, we had a camping/picnic day.

We started the day of reading books and coloring Yogi Bear. Then, we fixed lunch, and I let them help (as much as a 3 and 6 yr old can). They especially loved making homemade trail mix and sugar cookies in the shape of bears (Yogi). Then, we made a tent out of a whole lot of crap (hey loved it) and we ate in the living room...a big no no at my house...lol. After we finished eating, we watched "Open Season". I taught a little bit about camping safety. Which bugs and plants are ok and bad...etc (not that they will remember any of it), but they had fun looking at the pictures in the encyclopedia and online.

Anyways, the sky is the limit...have fun with it. Kids have such great imaginations and love to use them.

i want to fully change my families lifestyle. am i making a mistake?

Dragonfly

ok so my partner, myself and our two daughters aged 3 and 1 live in australia below the poverty line. we rent a house and have also brought a block of land 1.4 acres. we are struggling with rent, mortgage, bills, food and all the rest! im over it and im over seeing my husband stressing constantly about everything. i'm sick of the TV being on and the junk food that is alway being brought into the house and useless cluttering crap that i have to clean up everyday and not being able to afford potatoes.
im wanting to sell of all our useless stuff and move into a tent on the block and build our house ourselves bit by bit, grow our own food (we already have some fruit growing and two chickens) and just say screw you to the world! limited power, no tv no internet just a whole lot of nature for the kids to run around in!
am i going mad or am i really onto something??
if you could do it would you?
would really like to know people opinions on this???
thanks
better paying job is not an option my partner is looking ALL the time but there is no one hiring anywhere around where we live for anything

Answer
you really shouldn't live in a tent, you couldn't do without basic bathroom and kitchen necessities. And building a house is hard work, you would definitely need some help to be able to build a decent house to code.
But you are on to a couple of good things. If you have 1.4 acres, that is plenty of space for a nice garden. Grow fruits, vegetables, grains, maybe get some more chickens so you have plenty of eggs, and maybe some to sell. Maybe get some other animals like a cow for milk. Do as much as you can for yourself. Learn to make your own bread, snacks, anything you can. Homemade is almost always healthier and cheaper. In this world it's hard to get by without internet, but why bother with the TV. Don't pay for cable. Turn off the TV, who needs it, plus there are always things online you can watch.
Take advantage of your land, it's really your only asset. If you can grow enough to sustain yourself, and maybe sell some, that would almost completely get rid of your grocery bill, and maybe make you a bit of profit.
Get your kids to help you in the garden. Get them out of the house, playing outside, teach them the value of work. Teach them to clean up after themselves and take pride in their property.
Don't move into a tent, I'm sorry you'll probably keep having to pay rent until you can afford to get contractors to build your house, but in the meantime, use the land to its full potential.

What can i get for camping with my boyfriend?

large camping tents for rent on Equipment Rentals MA, Rent Equipment MA, MA Equipment Rental Company

Casey

What are the nessesities for camping with your boyfriend? I want it to be romantic but what can i get!

Answer
Tent, cooking stove, two sleeping bags (you can zip them together to make one), a cooler, something to hold water in (for drinking and bathing), two sleeping pads (or one large one), kindling and paper and matches (for a fire), an axe (for chopping wood), two camp chairs, and some food. Depending on where you're going, you may also want to invest in some bear spray and a tarp (to hang from the trees so that you can keep the rain off of you).

However, if you're never going to use that stuff again, then I'd suggest borrowing it and/or buying it second-hand (and then donating it back). You can also rent an RV for a few days as well (so that you don't have to purchase as much stuff); additionally, there are also places that have rustic cabins that you can rent (which is a pretty cool way to spend a few days in the woods).

Have fun :)

What is it like camping at the bottom of the grand canyon?

april_hwth

I am determined to get to the bottom of the grand canyon. What is it like carrying all that stuff down there? Does the duffel service carry tents? There is no lodging available at Phantom Ranch for hikers until next October. We want to go this Spring. My husband is not crazy about camping. Should we just do some day hikes and not worry about getting to the bottom?

Answer
It is definitely worth trying to get to the bottom of the Grand Canyon as it is a very different (and in my opinion) much more rewarding experience than just staying on the top. There is no feeling on earth like standing beside the muddy waters of the Colorado River with the dark rough walls of the Inner Gorge towering above you. I have been to the bottom over a dozen times and it still makes my heart skip a beat each visit.

Bright Angel campground (the one at the bottom by Phantom Ranch) is about as civilized a backcountry camp site as you are going to find. They have a facet with drinking water and real bathrooms with flush toilets. Each campsite has a picnic table with ammo cans and poles for storing food away from critters. Although it is a large camp area and all the sites are close together, the lush vegitation and the pleasant background noise of nearby Bright Angel creek make it feel very peaceful and not crowded.

As far as how tough it is to backpack down... well, I would say that if you consider yourself fit enough to hike it without a pack than you can probably handle it with one (unless perhaps, you have significant knee or lower back problems). As long as your pack fits correctly, you take your time and stop for rests when you need them than you should not have any problems - especially since you have several months to prepare. I have a couple of friends who are over 40 and a bit over-weight (certainly not athletes) who I have done it with and they did not have problems - they just took it slow at their own pace.

Mr. Danger above has a lot of good tips and suggestions. As he notes, you will want to make sure that you get ready both physically and mentally. Start with going on regular hikes around your home with a small day pack and then try renting or borrowing a pack, load it up with the weight you expect to carry, and try doing some long day hikes with that (doing at least one easy overnight practice trip would be ideal). You are going to want to be building up your leg muscles, increasing your cardio-vascular endurance, and also building up stomach and lower back muscles. Note - it is not training for the olympics - just that if you don't do regular cardio exercise than you should start and make sure that you get a day or two experience carrying a full pack.

As Mr. Danger notes you could try buying stuff on eBay or rent from several places near the canyon. A couple of additional suggestions about packing the canyon for the first time:

1) While it does not have to be the ultra-ligh high-end stuff, make sure that you get true backpacking equipment. You do not want to be carrying an 10lb 'car camping' tent or other much heavier equipment. If your entire pack - including water - is over 30lbs than something is wrong.

2) Fit is everything. Regardless of if it is bought, borrowed or rented find somebody knowledgeable to guide you in loading and fitting your pack. I will take a well-balanced well-fit heavy pack over a poorly packed, ill-fitting light pack any day. Remember that the weight should ride on your hips, not your shoulders.

3) Invest in some trekking poles (look like ski poles). These make a huge difference by taking strain off your back and knees and improving your balance. Having a pair of trekking poles is like taking 10lbs off your pack.

4) Be warned that the South Rim is at 7000 feet and does experience snow and freezing temps in winter. Icy patches can be quite common on the upper stretches of trails well into April. Check with the backcountry office before you go - if they are really icy, you will want to have instep crampons.

5) See about getting your meals at the Phantom Ranch canteen. Even if you are not staying in the dorms/cabins, they always have extra dinners and breakfast seats that backpackers can reserve (you MUST have reservations - made through Xanterra). Although a bit pricy, the food is good and it means you don't have to carry food or cooking supplies. Bag lunches (as well as individual snack items) can be bought at the canteen without reservation.

6) Backcountry camping permits are selected 4 months in advance. Spring is a popular time for backpacking in the canyon, so permits get picked quickly. If for instance, you want to go in April, than you should have your permit request sent in well before January 1 (see link below).

As far as duffel service goes... yes, (for most of the year anyways) you can hire a mule to carry your gear. The gear must fit in a space of 36x20x13 inches, which could prove a challenge for two people's gear. It costs about $60 per duffel per trip (ie: one trip down and one trip up) and you can only drop-off and pick-up your gear at certain times during the day. You are still going to have to carry a day pack with water, snacks and probably some bad weather gear. Considering the hassle and expense of the duffels, I would say just backpack it - it is a great experience and the feeling of accomplishment and independence that you get when you come out of the canyon carrying your own gear is something you will remember for the rest of your life.

How much jewelry will I sell at a craft fair?

kids tents on sale image

CuriousCat

I'm going to a well-established craft fair, but it is my first time selling. I have necklaces, earrings, and bracelets.

Do you have any advice on how many items I should bring? Also, how much can I except to sell?
Specifically, what would be considered a lot of pieces to bring/sell?

Answer
bring ALL your stuff...a packed booth gives more choices (basically a numbers game)...how much u sell will depend on a few thing

originality
materials used/quality
pricing
how much competition at the show
and your display

merchandising your jewelry:
you can use some heavy card stock and a hole punch to hold your jewelry
your name of course should be represented on the card....OR you can tie a ribbon or raffia around each piece with you name

selling:
make sure you are interactive with you potential customers (grab the hand mirror....help with the clasps).....If you used sterling silver, swarovskis, semi-precious gems...make sure you state that...I have found that having kiddie stuff helps sales (the kids come in and mom follows)

as far as pricing:
bring some signs that say 25% off, and if things are not going well USE THEM...it is not that much of a loss, and u will be a goddess for sale prices

general stuff for display:

Why are Christians against birth control, or any form of contraceptives?

Sheree

This has puzzled me for the last few years. I understand that we are to procreate, but lets be "real".

I was watching local news, and they did a story about small family drug stores that don't sale contraceptives because of their religion.

Now picture this. I attend a fairly large church. There is an average of 3 kids per family. Do you see where I'm going? So the parents only had sex 3 times throughout their entire marriage? I highly doubt! They are using some form of BC, either it's withdrawal, plan B, etc.

To add to my confusion, I attended a camping trip with my preacher and his wife. I had a tent with the wife, and soon found out that she was indeed on birth control.

Someone please answer my question, and please don't use Genesis 38:10. Thanks in advance ;)
I know you don't get pregnant every time you have sex! That was an obvious, so I really didn't bother to state it! I'm talking about older people in church. i was in Sunday School one day (with the elders) and they talked about how they wanted to have a set amount of kids, and everyone said Amen! They were all trying to imply that they either got their tubes tided, or used BC.

Thanks for bringing up the Catholics, but the people in the news segment were not Catholic.

Answer
I think you are confusing Christians with one particular Christian denomination - namely the Catholics. And they manage to hang the prohibition off of one doubtful verse in the Old Testament.

i want to go someplace with my friends for either a one day trip or a weekend to celebrate my 19th birthday. i was thinking of something along the lines of hiking, or going skydiving, or going to see some interesting places. (i wish we could go to grand canyon but it is too far, i need something near NY) Does anyone know of any places or activities that i can plan to do on my birthday? I need to plan this by september 22nd.

Thanks to all who will reply.

Answer
Happy Birthday a little early to you. I like the skydiving thing but, just remember it can get expensive. If that is something you want to do you might want to check out these websites:

I would also be sure you ask them about their safety record and maybe do a little âbackgroundâ check on them. You are trusting them with your life after all! It really is a good time, just pick a safe company.

What about going camping for a weekend?? That is always fun, maybe you all could pick a place that has hiking, canoeing and some other activities. OK so it might not be as adventurous as Skydiving, but it can be cheap and fun! You could also find a park that has cabins for rent if you all donât want to do the tent thing. Here are some state parks that have different accommodations:

Allegany State Park

There are so many wonderful places to camp, or stay in cabins you will want to check out this site for more info:
http://nysparks.state.ny.us/parks/

I donât know who you all plan on taking but, what about doing a day spa thing and then a nice dinner and stay at a hotel? That could be fun. I am sure that a spa somewhere is running a special.

What about going Bungee Jumping?? Almost like skydiving, well kinda! It could be fun take a weekend and combine camping/cabin ect with a little adventureâ¦. I did bungee and I really liked it. I did not do it in NY so I am sorry I cannot tell you about companies but, check out this site it will help you find a place!
http://www.planjam.com/bungee.html

What about going into NYC and site seeing? Donât know if you have done this or not but, it can be fun! Itâs your birthday pick the places you want to see, you want to eat at ect⦠You could also go to Coney Island or the beach those are always good options. What about taking surf lessons??? There are tons of surf shops by the beach that offer lessons. You and your friend could have a great time doing this! Get a place near the beach and have a great weekend!

Go site see at Niagara Falls. Donât know if you have ever been there but, it really is cool. Again you could camp or get a room. There is tons of stuff to see and the falls are just amazing!

Okay now here is a crazy idea, my friends and I for my 20th birthday got together and had a slumber party at one of those indoor kids places, Tumble Drum where I live. You know one of those places that has the indoor play ground. We put together games and we really had a good time. We had pizza and acted like kids for the evening, they had tunnels, slides and more. Yeah they built this place for kids but, this was one of my best birthdays. We had a great time and well for our age it was just crazy!

Speaking of slumber parties you could always have one and do silly games, do something like a driving scavenger hunt those are always fun. Make up a list of things each team has to findâ¦.spread the places out so they have to drive, put a time limit on it and the team to bring back the most wins. Put a time limit on it so your friends come back! Have food delivered; get some good movies you want to see. I know sounds childish but, my friend and I try to do this once a year and we just have a great time!

What about a roadtrip?? Look at a map and find some places you have always wanted to go, map your highways and set out on an adventure, heck don't even find places just pick some highways and go for it! You never know what you will discover and you all will have a great time!

Is there a concert, play or something else you want to see coming in town?? Yeah it might not be on your birthday but, a group of you going to see something you want to see and having some dinner can really be a lot of fun! I guess the best answer for you is be creative, think outside the box, think of things YOU want to do, have always wanted to do and plan it. After all it is your day! I hope this helps you good luck!

Thomas the Train Birthday Party for 2 year old son?

lovebug08

I'm planning a party for my son which is in 3 wks. I would like to know if you have any unique great ideas for the party. I've thought of having train tracks throughout the house using tape of course and also of putting railroad crossing signs around. The theme is Thomas the Train obviously. Also, I 'm trying to think of some different fun and easy refreshments than I had last year. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Answer
NordicWare carries a 3-D cake pan where you can decorate it and make it look like a train on the track, etc. Use different colored KoolAid (blue, green, red) for drinks - call them Thomas Blue, Percy Green, James Red to represent the trains. You can also use Oreo's as train wheels. Buy one of those pop up Thomas tents (www.amazon.com has them) - the kid will love it! They have just Thomas, or I've seen ones available with a caboose and tunnel. They will have fun.... Enjoy it!

How to camp without most camping equipment?

the best tent for camping with a family on folding double camping tent, outdoor for lover hiking tent-in Tents ...
the best tent for camping with a family image

Are there any good camping places to take kids 10-14 in Missouri?

MommaDoo

We want to take our kids who have never camped somewhere family oriented. My husband and I both grew up tent camping.

Answer
We live in the Missouri Ozarks and have 5 children ages 9, 11, 12, and two 14 year olds. Our favorite place to take our family is Alley Springs campground on the Jacks Fork river. It is about 6 miles west of Eminence. It offers plenty of sites, some with electric, hot showers, flat level sites with paved roads for bike riding, and a good swimming hole. About 1/2 mile away is the Alley Springs Mill and spring with two hiking trails, one that goes around the spring area, and then a more difficult one that goes up to a lookout that is above the spring. It is a beautiful place. Hope this helps!
