What was your worst restaurant experience?

answer man

tell me!

Answer
I love Buffalo Wild Wings, and have never had another bad experience there, but the first time we went was terrible.

We ordered the chicken nugget meal with "happy face fries" for my daughter right away, and the waitress brought her the chicken nugget app with no fries. We told her we didn't get our fries and she said we ordered the app. We told her that was a mistake, and she got huffy about it and said she could get some fries but they would take a while.

There were table tents advertising beer specials during football which my husband took advantage of.

When we received our check, not only did she charge us for the app + fries instead of the kids meal, but she charged full price for the beer. When we asked her about it, her reply was "What do you want me to do about it? Not in a helpful way, but in a very rude way.

This was the first time I ever went to a restaurant's site to complain. What horrible customer service. That waitress, I am happy to say, was never there on our many return visits. Thank Goodness, because we loved Buffalo Wild Wings for fight night !

Is Marie Callendar's restaurant open on Thanksgiving?

Older and

Answer
Yes. I have been goin to the Loop 410/Callaghan location every Thanksgiving for 5 years. They offer a Thanksgiving Day special (about 18.00 for adults and 8.00 for kids) that includes your choice of a honey glazed ham with pineapple or roasted turkey with giblet gravy, and the sides are mashed potatoes, yams, and mixed veggies. You also get a cup of soup and the cornbread. Dessert is included, and it is your choice of either apple pie or pumpkin pie.

They really pack them in so if your party is more than 6 ppl, I would suggest calling them in advance to make a reservation.
4788 Northwest Loop 410, San Antonio, TX 78229
210-680-4257
The doors open at 6:00 a.m. and they close at 10 p.m. A better time to go to avoid the chaos is before the dinner rush (11:00 a.m.-3 p.m.) or after the dinner rush (8:30 p.m- close).

Good luck finding a parking space, but I think it's worth the price and the hassle =) There will be lots of traffic because ppl will be picking up their pie orders in the restaurant as well as at tents located behind the restaurant.

You can also opt to order a Thanksgiving meal to-go. https://mariecallenders.takeouttech.com/orders/menu.aspx

What is a great tent, to fit someone like my size?

PlayinDaGa

Our church is planning on going camping. I don't plan on spending a lot of money, because it's not like I'm going to go, often. I'm 6 feet tall, and I weigh 260lbs. I'm a big guy. I remember buying one before, for another camping trip back in 2008, and it said "sleeps up to 3" they must have been talking about 3 KIDS, because, I barely fit diagonally in it, and only by myself. So I'm looking for one, that'll be big, enough to fit at least 2 other people, including myself. Would it be smarter, to just have everyone pitch in, at church. To buy a big one??

Answer
As you said you don't camp very often try just renting one instead, look up tent rentals at sporting goods stores near you. Sport Chalet, REI are a couple in southern Ca.

Anti-Racism in the U.S.?

Not Paul

I am aware that racism has been, and continues to be, a problem in the world. It is a terrible thing when people are judged and denied opportunities based on their race. The U.S. has obviously made great strides in the past century and a half to fight racism, but does anyone think some people take it too far? Reporters on TV can be fired for saying anything that can be perceived as racist, without a chance to explain themselves. White people are seen as racists (even by other white people) if they say anything negative about a minority group, even if what they say is true, and even if they are only expressing opinions and not acting on them. Journalists, and (more importantly) politicians, say they are fighting terrorism but will not admit that it is driven by Islam, for fear of being judged as racists. Does anyone think we are going a little bit too far?

Answer
DEFINITELY. ..YOU CANNOT CALL A SPADE A DIAMOND !!! YOU CAN CALL IT LOVELY SPADE, BEAUTIFUL SPADE BUT YET SPADE IS A SPADE. DIAMOND CANNOT BE CALLED A SPADE. IT CAN BE CALLED AN UGLY DIAMOND - BUT REMAINS A DIAMOND. We have to learn to call a SPADE A SPADE..and I am not , if you say , ' White'. Islam is terrorism in the name of religion and that is inbred in the religion itself.

What follows is a fact not a rant or insult or anything. It is not meant to be so. If you choose to take it like one , that's your fault , not mine. I suggest - you dont read this answer if you feel like an insult or rant etc.
Please point me factual statements that Actually prove me otherwise.
islam was started in a tribal environment where there was'nt even civilization enough to know a family relationship.
Brother and Sister relationship . Parent and Child relationship etc. Brothers raped sisters when they became pubertal and parents raped their children before they grew up in Bedouin tents. During ( and I'd say even after that ) the time islam came into this world - Africa was a lot more civilized. Then come mohammed pai goom bar to spread islam and he tried to preach sense to a savage tribe . But even mr mohammed pai gooooooooom bar was not immune from such deeds. When she was merely 16 yrs he raped a beautiful , innocent virgin called Aliya , who was Jewish. So the starter of the faith was not a pure man. He himself had sinned. C.F this to other Pure Men like Moses or Jesus Christ.
Aliya - She was kidnapped and raped . Women in islam , TILL TODAY when , they get raped , in an islamic country - they have no voice because the presiding judge is an imam. And she needs to have some 10-15 witnesses to testify that she was raped. There is no medical examination of any sort and no logical investigation. WORST come , if she complains and is NOT able to prove that she was raped , she herself becomes a criminal as per islundic law and she gets death penalty - she gets stoned till death in public. THIS IS TILL HAPPENING IN ALL GULF AND AFRICAN COUNTRIES WHICH PRACTICE ISLAM.
IN OTHER WORDS ISLAM IS A FANATIC RELIGION . IT INDUCES A RETROGRADE CULTURE. PEOPLE IN AN ISLAMIC COUNTRY , UNLESS THEY DO AWAY WITH KORAN , THEY BECOME ENSLAVED IN A TRIBAL BOOK , THEY KEEP READING 50 TIMES A DAY.
THERE IS NO SCIENCE , PROGRESS, CULTURE, ART , FREEDOM IN AN ISLAMIC COUNTRY. THERE IS JUST 1 PRODUCT THAT COMES OF ISLUNDIC COUNTRY - TERRORISM AND JIHAD . JIHAD AT ANY COST AND ALL COSTS. ANOTHER PROBLEM THAT IS A DIRECT RESULT OF ISLAM IS POPULATION EXPLOSION. 1 MOSLEM CAN AND WILL MARRY 4 WIVES ( AND IN MOST GULF COUNTRIES THE SHEIKHS HAVE 4 LEGAL WIVES AND 10 ILLEGAL WIVES {FROM YOUNG INNOCENT VIRGINS SMUGGLED FROM RUSSIA, UKRAINE, INDIA AND BANGLADESH } ) . FROM 1 LEGAL WIFE HE HAS 10 KIDS . X 4 = 40 LEGAL KIDS . IF WE ARE TALKING OF ILLEGAL KIDS THEN WHALLA.....ALLAH.....THAT GOES ,..LIKE THE BIN LADEN FAMILY IN 100'S 1000'S. MOTHER EARTH WILL NEVER HAVE ENOUGH RESOURCES TO FEED SO MANY KIDS. AND ALL THESE KIDS ARE MENTALLY DEFICIENT BEING BORN PREMATURE OR UNDER INHUMAN CONDITIONS , HAVE DISABILITIES AND BECOME LIABILITIES ON SOCIETIES WHEN THEY ARE TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING OUTSIDE THE KORAN FOR YOU AND YOU HAVE TO KILL THE JEWS, KILL THE CHRISTIANS IF THEY DON'T CONVERT TO ISLAM.THE WORLD POPULATION INCREASES AT THE COST OF STANDARD OF LIVING DECREASING AND DUE TO ITS ANTI WEST APPROACH , IT BECOMES UNITED IN ITS WAR AGAINST THE WHITE RACE & ASIAN RACE ( THAT IS NON ISLAMIC )

E.G.
1) PAKISTAN THE BOILING PIT OF TERRORISM .PAKISTANIS HAVE BEEN PARASITES ON EVERY COUNTRY . START FROM INDIA . GO TO UK. AUSTRALIA . USA . THEY GET BASHED UP EVERY PLACE FOR BEING PARASITES ON THE LAND THEY LIVE IN.
IN ENGLAND THE AVG WHITE MAN FEELS REPUGNANT OF PAKI TOWNSHIPS WHICH SMELL STINK AND ARE FULL OF DIRT AND JIHAD.

2) ALL GULF COUNTRIES WHERE EVERY MAJOR FACET OF TECHNOLOGY THAT THEY HAVE IS IMPORTED THROUGH FROM EUROPE, USA AND JAPAN . TO MAINTAIN THIS TECHNOLOGY THEY HIRE CHEAP CONTRACT LABOR FROM ASIAN COUNTRIES LIKE INDIA, THAILAND, ETC. THESE CONTRACTORS HAVE 'NO RIGHT' IN THE GUL COUNTRIES THEY SWEAT FOR. NO CITIZENSHIP. NOTHING. AFTER 30 YEARS OF STAYING THERE THEY ARE CONTRACTORS. INDENTURED SLAVERY IS THE HALLMARK OF ISLAM.

MY PERSONAL OPINION . CONVERT ALL MOSLEMS TO JEWS OR CHRISTIANS OR ANY OTHER PEACEFUL RELIGION THAT CAN CO-EXIST WITH SCIENCE , RATIONALE AND CIVILIZED SOCIETY. IF THEY REFUSE TO CONVERT , THEN CHARGE THEM EXTRA TAX. THIS IS THE TAX THEY ARE PAYING TO REMAIN MOSLEMS. THEY ARE PAYING NOT FOR REMAINING MOSLEMS BUT FOR THE NUSIANCE VALUE ISLAM CREATES WHEN MOSLEMS EXIST. IF THEY REFUSE TO PAY - SEND THEM TO ALLAH. AGAIN WITH A LOT OF COMPASSION AND LOVE FOR THEM.

1. Find the best happy hour in town. Look through your newspaper or search online for local restaurants and bars with happy hours. Most places offer half-price food and drink specials, allowing you to get two drinks and share an appetizer for less than $20.

2. Go to a museum. Most museums either have free admission or offer free entry on certain days of the month.

3. Visit your local zoo. Most zoos offer adult tickets for less than $10. Pack your own snacks and bottled water and have a mini picnic while you're there.

4. Go on a romantic hike. Bring a backpack and surprise your partner with a bottle of champagne, glasses and fresh strawberries.

5. Go swimming at your local pool, lake or beach. Bring some water toys and have more fun than the kids.

6. Beat the heat with an ice cream date. Take two scoops to the park, or take a walk downtown and go people watching.

7. Hit the dollar movie theater. Lots of cities have discount movie theaters showing second-run features. Pick a rainy day and have a movie marathon.

8. Take a downtown walking tour. Discover things and places you never knew existed. While you're there, pick up a free visitors guide for more date ideas.

9. Plan a cheap picnic. Go on a picnic at the beach, mountains or in your own backyard. Grab a blanket, pack a deli sandwich and a bottle of $5 wine.

14. Rent something. Go roller- or ice-skating, rent a two-seater bike and pedal through the park, or paddle a boat on a pond.

15. Paint pottery together. Lots of studios let you get creative for around $6 an hour.

16. Pitch a tent. Park fees are usually less than $10, which leaves money for food and firewood. Go camping and roast hot dogs as you gaze at the stars.

17. Go wine tasting. Most wineries charge around $5 for a tasting of five different wines -- plus, you'll get to keep the glass as a souvenir of your date.

18. Take a scenic drive. Pull over to have coffee and dessert at a nice cafe.

19. Explore local galleries and artists. Many cities have art walks one night a month during the summer, with the bonus of a free glass of wine.

20. Rack 'em up at your local pool joint. With pool games costing less than $2, you might even have money left over to share a pitcher of beer.

Best place in the Poconos to rent a cabin/house/apartment for a week in August?

DBM

My family (my wife and me, our daughter and her husband and our young adult son) are interested in renting a cabin and/or house and/or apartment in the Poconos for a week in August. Although we would love something rustic, we would like to be at a lake and with a pool. It would be best if there was good hiking nearby as well. Where is the best location to look?

Answer
DBM,

I can tell you where NOT to stay! That's Split Rock Resort. They have had a lot of financial problems over the past 10yrs and the place has really gotten run down.

The rooms are old and out-dated in the Galleria and even if you get in to Willow Brook (newer townhouses - but those units can have water problems) the ammenities are lousy and can have unpredictable hours. They put in a new water park just a couple of years ago, but it's over priced and kinda cheesy.

If you mean August of 2014 - My vote would be Knoebels! http://www.knoebels.com/index.php/camping They have tent camping and they also have really neat cabins! And Knoebel's is a great place for a family vacation. It's an amusement park, so I don't think it qualifies as "rustic", but c'mon! Who doesn't like to camp in the middle of an amusement park! I think the best time is early in the morning - you can walk thru the park before it opens and see all the stuff you don't get a chance to see when there's a bazillion people in the park! There are other things to do in the area, you don't have to do *just* Knoebels. You can do all kinds of other day trips.

It's not exactly in "The Pocono's" but my husband and I really enjoy going over to World's End State Park. They have rustic cabins you can rent that are really nice. They have a stove, fridge and elec, but no water and heat is a wood stove. Great hiking trails, good fishing. http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/findapark/worldsend/index.htm

I've never gone, but I hear Great Wolf is kid friendly! http://www.greatwolf.com/poconos/waterpark

What does your bug out bag consist of?

Winobot Du

I have decided to put together a bug out bag for a SHTF situation, and figured it would be a good idea to see what other people have so i dont forget something that would be useful. I have two US surplus day packs i will probably fill up. What do you have in yours and what is the bag?

Answer
I use many duffel bags that i got for free, and one wooden ammo case that I refinished. I also have a few unmarked cardboard boxes.
my BOB is something I stick into the minivan and get out of town asap. I have no plans to hike out of town, I live in the middle of a large city.

12 MREs handpicked, all my favorite menus
32 bottles of water- Kirkland 16.9 FL oz each
various meal bars from the supermarket
tablets for purifying water
funny purple tablets for cooking with (military surplus), I bought lots and lots.
mountain house dehydrated foods, 36 units, favorites only
water filter
2x collapsible 2L water bags
2x military OD green plastic canteens
titanium knife-fork-spoon utensil
as many matchbooks as I can cram into a 1 gallon zip lock bag
several cheap Bic lighters
metal camping cooking pot + lid
collapsible cooking rack that I made from aluminum

$200 in cash, $10s and $20s
one roll silver quarters (face value = $10, worth $130)
1 carton Grand Prix menthol cigarettes - for trade, sale, or personal use.
1 bag rolling tobacco, lots of paper slips for rolling. - for sale, trade, or personal use

a 3.2 million volt stun gun and LED flashlight
AK bayonet, Yugo style
mini crowbar, 18"
a FAK (I call it a field aid kit) I'm still adding stuff to it

3x15 min road flares
2x30 min road flares
3x coast guard approved signal flares
Camping Gaz piezoelectric 80W blue butane lamp
2x blue butane bottles (for the lamp)
1 wooden ammo case that holds lots and lots of glow sticks, and anything else fragile. its has tons of padding, it was designed to take a 33 foot fall without any glow sticks breaking. 33feet is because that's the highest I test the case falling. I threw it off the roof to the cold, hard concrete driveway below. I think its 33 feet, I'm really bad at math.
1 5x night vision monocular, waterproof
20 CR123 batteries
1x LED Lenser P7 flashlight,
3x AAA battery packs
1x trusty old Ti83 calculator sealed in plastic (to make water proof)
1- 4 man Coleman tent
2 sleeping bags (in case I bring someone with me)

all local area maps
spare battery pack (external, 12V) for GPS with hand crank charger (something I rigged up)
12 BLM maps covering everything within 150 miles of my house
1 really obsolete 1978 detailed street map book of LA and Orange county - something my parents uses, i have it in case the gps breaks. I am not buying a new one, even if they're still in print.
1 book detailing wilderness survival
1 book detailing auto repair and troubleshooting
1 clear plastic ruler
1 book detailing medial aid
4 compasses- in case one broke.

for defensive purposes, my vehicle may be attacked, ambushed, or mobbed depending on the situation, I must be prepared for that.
a simple cardboard box holds 10x 30rd AK magazines, 12 clips of russian light ball for my mosin nagant, 5 clips of Czech AP for my mosin nagant, 35- 20 ga #3 buck, 50- 20 ga 3/4 oz slugs, orange and grey smoke emitters, two bricks of .22lr, various fireworks or firecrackers I believe may be used, and two machetes- one cheap walmart one for chopping and one expensive Ontario knife one for sawing. that would be put up front next to me between my passenger.
the few cardboard boxes part of my BOB holds even more ammo. 960 rounds of 7.62x39mm, 370 rounds 7.62x54mmr, 3660 rounds .22lr, 182 #7.5 birdshot, and many, many, many "firecrackers".

the BOB is to get out of the city into the forests and be able to live out there for at least 2 months with occasional ventures into the city for more supplies and such.

What ages are loft beds for?

jon jon's

What age group is best for loft beds? I have heard not to use top bunks before age 6. This loft bed seems to have high side rails:
http://www.bedroomfurnituresolution...
What ages would you say this is for? Keep in mind the pink tent can be taken off for older kids and you could put a dresser, desk or bean bags or something underneath. Whats the youngest and oldest for something like this?
let me try that link again! hope it works this time...

Heather-they have them for boys, too! I want to get my son one, too! =0)
it's so cute!:

Answer
I would say that 5 seems like a good age, that way they wont have any problem climbing the ladder. It is a very cute bed, I wish I had a little girl, the bed could be for a little younger than 5 if you watch them climb up the ladder and pick it up during the day, any younger than 5 could easily fall of that ladder,

What type of bed should I buy for my son?

momto2boyz

He is 5 1/2 years old (tall and heavy for his age)
His room is 8ft x 10ft
He is afraid of heights, but has friends that could sleep over and use the top bunk if we decide on a bunk bed.

Any advice?

(his box spring just broke)

:(

Answer
A bunk bed would be nice depending on how well it is constructed. If he is large for his age though changes are that he will always be a larger person. I would say no to the bunk bed as they don't support weight that well (he will likely be a larger person his whole life).

Another alternative is a bed with drawers underneath. I think the official name for this bed style is a "Captains Bed". They are usually pretty sturdy beds and it would be able to support a lot of weight. Before upgrading to a double when we were first starting out me and my fiance slept on a twin size captains bed me, him and my pregnant belly...so I know it can handle weight. Basically it would solve a lot of the storage issues (for example if it has 3 drawers in the bottom you'd likely be able to fit underwear/pj's, shirts and pants. If it all fits you don't need a dresser). I noticed the room dimensions are a bit small when you consider the added furniture.

My motto is keep is simple and uncluttered. The less things that have to go in his room the cleaner his room will stay, the nicer it will look...the more he will and you will enjoy the space. My kids rooms are on the main floor so it's important for me to make sure they stay reasonably clean, so if your place is anything like mine that will be an important factor for you as well.

If friends sleep over in the summer and you have any kind of a yard tents can be a very fun alternative. If you have a room in your home, like a den or even the living room the kids can camp out in there in the wintertime. I did that with friends and it was fun, yes we stayed up late but in our rooms we'd stay up too with our toys we as parents we need to 'bit the bullet' and accept the kids will be up late on a sleep over. If you let them use the living room during the colder months, let them make a fort and have an indoor camp out....lol maybe as a kid I just loved camping but I promise I'm not the only one.

Best of luck =)

Tent camping in rain?

FoudaFaFa

Near ocean.Dont expect downpours or Tstorms but light to steady intermittent rain. Hate to cancel as only chance to get away from rat race for a while. I got all the info from REI about waterproofing tent....No kids coming so no wet cold kids to worry over. Will have tent and a tarp for covering Weather to be mild 60's cloudy/rainy.
DO YOU HAVE ANY ideas for... tent camping in the rain? is the question I like to make it short so people get the jist of the question since the answers cutit short otherwise
ideas for ...things to do to pass the time your past experiences etc
been camping before Yes but always looking for ways to improve I have plastic bins ready to go so I have the basics ready like matches kitchen stuff etc
thanks exp Dave and Denver I love the army and air force way comparison! And the reminder of the tsunami made me giggle too And it is in an area for that as well.

Answer
1. Use a rain fly. You do not want the rain to be falling directly onto the tent as it will wick thru.

2. Make sure you have good drainage around the tent. Do not pitch the tent in a dry stream bed as it will not be dry for long. You may have to trench around the tent to keep water from going under the tent.

3. If your tent uses stakes, there are two ways to drive them in.

ARMY WAY... the stakes are driven in IN LINE with the tent ropes. That way in a high wind, the stakes come up and the tent is not torn to pieces. After the storm settles down, you re-pitch the tent.

AIR FORCE WAY. the stakes are driven in at an angle away from the line and tent. That way the stakes can not pull loose from the ground. In a big storm the tent will stay up until it hits its failure point then it will be ripped to shreds. After the storm settles down, you go buy a new tent.

4. Pitching the tent on TOP of a hill or UNDER a tree is not a good idea, specially if the tent uses metal support poles. Make sure you are well above the high water/high tide/storm surge mark.

5. Make sure the door of the tent faces away from the prevailing winds. If straight on, the rain will get blown into the tent. At an angle to the wind your flaps will flap all night.

6. There is no such thing as water proof. Bring an extra tarp and clothing, specially dry socks.

7. If the ocean suddenly recedes from the shore, do not stand there watching it! Run as fast as you can to the highest point you can get to immediately. Do not bother trying to collect your stuff, just run. The receding water is the first half of a tsunami. You do not want to be sitting down on the beach when the second half arrives.

Do you think it is a good Tent to buy?

i want to buy a new tent for travel, do you think it is a good one to buy?

Answer
Coleman can be a decent starter tent. Especially if you have a car nearby you can duck into when it starts pouring outside and you find yourself swimming in puddles in your new tent. Really, though, we used a Coleman tent for a while when I was a kid and after we seam sealed and waterproof-sprayed it it was a good tent for as long as we used it (I remember having it around for maybe 6 years, a couple camping trips a summer). If all you are looking for is a tent to use once or twice a summer for car camping trips, this may be the tent for you.

I see that Coleman guarantees this tent will keep you dry. I'd pack a tarp, rope, and extra tent stakes to be on the safe side. :)

Oh, and this tent looks like it has lousy ventilation. Set it up in the shade or you will get cooked if you need a midday nap! Also, not a biggie necessarily, but unless you are an origami pro, you will struggle for 15 minutes just to get the folded-up tent back into it's storage bag!

In conclusion, buy this tent if you will only use it occasionally for casual camping trips. Also know you will probably get what you pay for, so bring a tarp just in case!

(Just a note, this tent strikes me as huge, too huge, but then I use an REI Half Dome 2, so..... Well, to each their own!)

Happy Camping!

What kind of tent should we get?

TaDa

I don't know anything about camping, but we're a family of four and will be going on camping trips with the Boy and Girl Scouts. What kind of tent should we get? What style? (Idiot-proof set-up would be good.) What's a good brand? (We're in Texas, so we're more likely to be camping when it's hot not cold.) Thanks!

Answer
For car-camping I always advise families to get a separate three-man, three-season, nylon dome tent for each two or three people. Maybe some families enjoy a slumber party atmosphere the first night, but by the second night I'll bet most people would prefer a little privacy.

Some people see one of those big two or three room "cabin" tents and think that's the answer, but those things are overkill, often too large for the campsite.

Even though you're camping in the summer, a dome tent with full rain fly is essential in case of a freak storm. If it's hot you can take it off, unlike a cabin tent which is usually just one layer. Some dome tents have more mesh screen rather than nylon on the inner layer and those would be the coolest.

REI http://www.rei.com/ has many good quality tents, including their own brand which are a great deal. http://www.rei.com/product/745955

If there's any chance the Scouts might be going on a backpacking trip sometime in the future, and are required to bring a tent, you might want to think about the weight of that second "kids" tent and instead try to buy the lightest 2 man, 3 season tent. This one is reasonably light for two people to share carrying it. http://www.rei.com/product/705525

I just remembered, after all that, that I also always advise people never to buy tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, etc. for their first camping trip(s) and instead to borrow or rent the more expensive gear to give yourselves a chance to learn what your personal preferences are without spending big bucks. REI also rents tents, sleeping bags, pads, backpacks and camp stoves. They have six stores in TX: http://www.rei.com/FindStores?state=TX&radius=900

what is the largest family camping tent? we have 6 kids.. people plus gear..?

i want the biggest tent possible. to fit our bags as well..

Answer
You can get tents in any size you want to pay for.
But the bigger it is the heavier it is and takes up more room, both in the car as well as the camp site.

You will only be using it for sleeping and some storage, EXCEPT for food and other smellables!
You don't want furry visitors in the tent.

Get a 3 room rectangle dome type.

How big of a tent should I buy? I'll need room for a full size air mattress and a Pack 'N Play at a minimum

Q. I am currently looking at a 6 person octagonal dome tent that measures 90 square feet floor area.So it's approximately 12x10.
I have a 20 month old kid whom we would rather sleep in the Pack 'N Play rather than on the floor. Any one have some experience/suggestions on this?
Thanks.
Robin,
Helpful tips, but I am talking space for a pack 'n play was well, which uses up more space than a person. So I need to be able to judge how much that would use up in a tent... without having the tent.
Yah 90 square feet would be 10x9... well the tent I was looking at claimed 12x10'6" but also said it was 90 square feet... How I dunno.
I'd be camping with my wife and the kid. So it's be the three of us with the pack 'n play and the mattress
I'm still going with the idea that it's 90 square feet at this point so let's agree on 10x9
Here's a link to the "odd" math tent with 90.3 square feet and being 12x10
http://www.eurekatent.com/twister.asp
Hrm maybe because it's a hexagon it takes up a square area of 12x10 but because it's a hexagon and not a perfect square you loose footage.

Answer
Besides yourself and the baby in the Pack N Play, how many other people need to fit in this tent?? If it is just the two of you, a 6 person tent would be large enough. If there is another adult going along, get a 7 or 8 person tent.

I have a math question now! How does 90 sq feet equal an area of 12'x10'? It either equals 9'x10' or else you have 120 square feet of space.

Okay, so being an octagon shaped tent, it probably is only 90.3 square feet of space. (My geomentry skills elude me at the moment)

But, with 2 adults and a child, I stick with my suggestion of a 7 or 8 person tent so that you will have the room needed to stretch out.

Thumbs up on considering a tent from Eureka. Great quality for the price.

How do you make an indoor tent?

Luigi fan

I wanna make an indoor tent with my bed cuz my real tent broke and my freind's coming over and we were ganna camp...
Please answer my question!

Answer
"Tents donât necessarily have to go outdoors. You can make a fun indoor tent thatâs collapsible and will give the kids hours of enjoyment. This tent doesnât need any stakes but you will have to have plenty of fabric.
How To Make A Collapsible Indoor TentSheets can be used to make curtains, tablecloths, and yes, even tents.

Consider sheets instead of other material, since theyâre inexpensive and easy to work with, for this project.

Five twin sheets will make an excellent tent. You can purchase fabric, though, in smaller yardage than the sheets, if youâd like a shorter or smaller tent. Working with sheets makes it easier, since you donât have to measure and cut each side of the tent.

Consider how much floor space you can spare for the tent. Remember that the tent is easily collapsible if it needs to be moved in a hurry. Measure out the amount of space youâre willing to give the tent, then cut a sheet or piece of fabric to that size, allowing a couple extra inches on each side for hemming, and making sure to cut the piece in a perfect square. If one end of the sheet is already hemmed, do not add the extra inches for that side.

The square piece, upon being completely hemmed, becomes the top of the tent. Each of the four remaining sheets will become a side of the tent. Stitch the first sheet onto one side of the tent, at the very top edge. Allow the edge of the tent top to barely hang over the top edge of the sheet. Continue this until you have three sides sewn onto the tent. For the fourth side of the tent, cut the sheet in half, lengthways, then hem the cut edges. Sew the sheet onto the tent, making the fourth side, including a doorway. Make tabs and sew one on the top section and one on the bottom section of each sheet edge. These are used to tie the sides shut.

In order to hang the collapsible tent insert four eye hooks into the ceiling. To make the tent collapse out of the way of guests, insert two of the eye hooks next to the top ceiling molding. The four hooks should align with the four corners of the tent top.
String wire through the tent at all four corners. Wad the wire into a ball shape at each end, inside the tent, to keep it from coming out when hung. String the wire up to the eye hooks, making sure to get the tent top level and even. Simply wrap the wire around the eye hook and itâll hang until ready to collapse.

To collapse the tent just undo the front two wires. To remove the tent completely, just remove all four wires from the eye hooks. The tent is easy to hang again, and the kids will have a blast when they play in it."

I would like to take my two kids camping, for the first time, what should I bring other than a tent?

JENNIFER C

I have two kids, ages 8 and 9. I am a single mom. I bought a tent and would like to take them camping, but am unsure of the types of things I should bring. I know the basics, tent, blankets, first aid kit, food, insect repellent. But I'm looking to do this for as cheaply as possible. Here is what we have so far, blankets, pillows, tent, and even transportation to and from a camping site, we've got bottles to fill with water, and even some sparklers for fun. Any ideas? I'm sure I could come up with a list on my own, but I'd prefere to get suggestions from people who have already been there and done that. Thanks in advance
I've decided to go to a camp grounds, especially where it is our first time. I'd like to go for three days. It will cost me about 120 bucks {still looking for cheaper} So far all the suggesstions are awsome, and informative. I'm learning a great deal. I am also going to try to convince another adult to come to so that I can sit back and relax.

Best kids camping tent?

I have been looking for a cool but fun kids camping tent so i can camp with my kids in my backyard before it gets too cold (might be too late). I shopped around and found some, but don't know which one to choose yet (i do like the videos on these pages, that's cool): (1) http://www.bongobing.com/products/pacific-play-tents-one-touch-play-tent-374218, (2) http://www.bongobing.com/products/pacific-play-tents-jungle-safari-play-tent-and-tunnel-374312. Answer
Go to your local Walmart, K-mart, places like that and look at a Coleman Sundome. It will cost around $60-$70 and it is plenty good for the back yard, even for weekend camping. 9x7 feet floor area is plenty big enough for 3 to sleep in. It's a decent quality, especially for the price, easy to set up, and will last several years if given reasonable care.

coleman kids dome tent?

Q. can you close the netting so that no air gets out?
im painting my room and i need a cheap one and i can fit in that one. and i can make it cool if it zips.
so where it has the mesh material does it zip up so no air gets out?
or is there any other one like under 20$ that can zip?
at academy, walmart, target?
can you put a double bed in it?

Answer
Get a pup tent. They don't have mesh vents. You know, the small triangular type that look like army tents or old boy scout tents. I think academy carries them, and they are usually cheap.

Are the temperatures on sleeping bags correct?

Capt'n Cru

If it's June in the Midwest, the temp can range from 35 to 50. What temp sleeping bag would be good?

This is for an 11 year old girl tent camping for 5 nights late June. Most kids bags are 50 degree. Should I get an adult 35 or 40 degree? It would be real big I think, right?

Thanks!
<never been camping>

Answer
yes aduly bags are larger and wont be as warm for her because it doesnt "snuggle" her in. I think a youth bag is sufficient, and get a couple of those cheap fleece throws they sell at wal mart, they really help a lot.

is it safe to sleep outside in the backyard in a tent?

Kelly

My children are 10 12 and 6 , they want to sleep in the backyard in our big tent. I live in a faily decent part of town. but are they too young to be out there all night by themself or am i just being too strict? My kids think im the worst mom ever today. someone let me know what you would do. i cant sleep out there with them all night, because of my shoulder issue. what can be some options>

Answer
My kids were sleeping in a tent at 5000 feet when they were only just walking. We carried them. Child carrier in front and rucksack at the back.
At ten they were higher than that...staying in mountain huts at 7000 feet and carrying backpacks with their night clothes and teddy bears in. And wearing gorgeous little Austrian walking boots.....
Loved it! Playing with snow under the baking Alpine sun in July!
Seeing mountains 50 miles across the valley and sunrises lighting the peaks with pink and orange light.
Ten year old eyes seeing that at 6am and eating breakfast outdoors with paradise for a view.....what a joy for them.
Lay down for a nap at midday with sweet Alpine flowers all around them. See the lake a thousand feet below shimmering in the sunlight, eat with children from other lands and sing with them outside the hut at night under the canopy of stars...sweet mountain songs coming back to us in soft echos across the deep valleys.
Reckon they sleep well at night, wake happy in the morning? They still do.

Got a bad shoulder? You can be warmer in a sleeping bag outside than under the duvet indoors.
I couldn't walk for two years. Lost a lot of school.
Later I was in an international marching event...top civilian and military teams from around the world.....The Nijmegan Marches. Tough one. Succeed with honor for team and country. And then enjoy the blister parties till dawn....a huge and happy event.
Walking cycling and camping out got me fit when I could walk again. It got my legs working. It gave me paradise again.
Being out. Like yours are hoping for. Adventure....fun.
They need it. They're asking.
You can get an air bed for a few dollars for occasional use, or pay more for velvety cozy luxury...still cheap. You can be comfortable.
Blow them up as hard or as soft as you like. Whatever your shoulder likes.
Variable mattress technology....try that with a spring mattress. A big double one all for you if you want.
Give the kiddies a bit of fun...happy their eyes up laughing..
Children love adventure if it isn't already smothered out of them. Play at pirates marooned on a desert island....spaceships, pioneer explorers.
Nooooo...you're not the worst by a long chalk. Some moms wouldn't even think of letting the children out at at all.
All covered in cotton wool and treated with total care and mommying loving and smothered with it. Kids in safe soft wrappers.
Misery for them. They can't grow like that. Kids need adventure.....it's fun.
Make it as safe as you can.....don't be too obvious about it by telling everyone you're sleeping out. You be there too.
Tucked up and warm, just like indoors.
Have a good night.
Midnight feast on the outdoor cookie stove...paradise for them.
Children grow into the space they've got. Give them more space they grow more....and they learn more.
It still has limits... you're just applying the limits to a bigger space.
Have fun.
Give it a couple of days if you like so you've time to get organized. Get some comfort things going for yourself. It's not on top of a mountain, just in the backyard. But you need a bit of time. Keeps them happy if it all goes smooth. That's means happy Mom too....
Get some goodies to eat outside ...a game to play...a story under the stars....nice warm bed for them...and lots of smiles.
Then you're ready to say yes...and see those happy eyes laughing with you....
Yahaaaayyyyy!!

Please recommend an 8 or 10 person family tent for us!?

I am heartbroken. I was going to order the Columbia Cougar Flats 2 and now it has been discontinued.

Can anyone recommend a tent that would be big enough for me, my husband who is 6'4 tall, and 3 children? My youngest will be sleeping in a pack and play.

Would like a bathtub floor, good ventilation. A canopy over the front door would be a great bonus. I like the idea of divided rooms.

We are not camping anywhere very cold.. but would need something that will stand up to rain.

Thank you.

Answer
My current family tent would satisfy all of those preferences with the exception of the canopy over the door. However, the lacking canopy has proven to only be a problem when going in and out while it is actually raining, and...really...how much are you going to actually do that?

The straight vertical walls allow for more usable floorspace (especially for things like a pack-n-play), it has a hanging divider, and even two doors. The doors are excellent for camping with kids because they are a hard D-frame with a hinge and velcro, so the kids can easily go in and out without having to zip/unzip/zip/unzip. You can zip up the doors when you want/need to, but you don't have to do it every time.

Big windows on three sides and doors on the fourth side have rather large windows as well. The entire top is mesh. I've never had a problem in the wind and/or rain in this tent.

The tent is very tall (I'm 6'3" so that's a requirement for me as well), and hands-down the easiest tent to setup that I have ever owned. Not exaggering when I say that I can easily setup this tent in 15 minutes by myself, including all guylines. It's also just as easy to break down, and it's the only tent I've owned that actually folds up SMALLER than it came from the store, so you can actually fit additional accessories in the original storage bag in addition to the tent.

It's made by Coleman but only sold in Target stores. If there's not a store near you, they usually offer free shipping on something priced that high. I've seen it on sale as cheap as $150, but it's usually $185-200.

Where to find a good back pack for 3 days of camping?

stonesfan_

Where can I find a decent pack that would allow me to hold enough supplies for 3 days of camping?

list of stuff needed to be packed:

tent (2-3 person)
sleeping bag (maybe mats to put under them too)
pot for boiling water
pan
3 days worth of food (mainly MRE's, but other stuff like oatmeal, beefjerky)
hatchet
extra clothes (mainly socks and maybe an extra shirt)
firestarters
freshwater
a bunch of misc. small stuff (lighters, maps, keys, etc)
list obviously goes on

Also I'd like to point out that there will be two people so not all things will be in one pack (only 1 person for the tent, only need 1 person for the pot/pan) but some other things will obviously be needed by both (sleeping bags, food, etc)

My only issue with it is...is how do you pack the sleeping bag? I've never done this before..but most sleeping bags I've seen , even fully compressed , have about a 12 inch diameter or more..so I doubt it can go IN the pack, so how else do you attach it? I've seen a few with places under the bag on the support system for the bag..but that's it

I'd like to keep it under $100 too if that's possible. I've seen a lot of good looking ones on the web but I have no clue if they can hold what I need (emphasis on the sleeping bag part above).
Just to clear some things up:

-$100 is just the budget for each bag, not the entire trip
-pan idea is out (decided to go during deer season instead of small game)
-ground fires are permitted
-we will be boiling/purifying out water without filters (coffee and drink mix will probably be the main form of drinking to slightly help the taste)
-firestarters because it's during winter (below freezing and sudden 25 inch snow storms aren't uncommon)
-nearest REI is hundreds of miles away

I'm sure there are some more points I missed..but I think this covers most. Anyway it goes though, I think I've found a pack I like that will carry what I need/want.

Answer
With larger backpacks, you usually put your sleeping bag inside in the bottom of the pack. 12" diameter is pretty big for backpacking, Most of the bags I've owned compress down to 8" diameter. But with a $100 budget you don't want to go out and buy a new sleeping bag and backpack, particularly if this is the first time you're backpacking. Still, you should be able to stuff even this large sleeping bag in the bottom of the pack with reduced storage above.

Or you can get a smaller/cheaper backpack that has reinforced mounting points on the bottom to slip straps through. Usually this is where you attach your sleeping mat, but you can hang your sleeping bag there; it will just lower the load's center of gravity (and bounce off your butt as you walk). But it's manageable for short distances. Get some cam-buckle straps long enough to go around your sleeping bag. If your sleeping bag doesn't have a waterproof stuff sack, stick it inside a trash bag and seal with duct tape to protect it from getting wet.

A mat or pad of some kind is strongly recommended. In addition to some padding, it provides insulation from the cold ground. Trust me you will not be comfortable without one. An inexpensive ($20-30) convoluted foam mat will work fine.

Head over to REI if there's one near you. They're having their fall sale starting today, and you can probably find some good deals on backpacks. If you're an REI member you can also get 20% off any non-sale item with their coupon. You can also get the 20% off if you sign-up for membership -- recommended if you plan to stick with outdoors activities -- which costs $20 for life. Bring the sleeping bag with you to test for fit.

If you're eating MRE's, oatmeal and jerky, you don't need a pan and can get by with a small pot for boiling water, heating soup, cooking pasta/rice/beans, even making eggs. I usually only bring my 800ml stainless steel bottle cup when backpacking (cost about $15). It fits over the bottom of my Nalgene bottle, and together they sit in the outside pocket of the pack, taking up no internal space. What are you going to use for heat to cook? Many backcountry areas don't permit ground fires, so you need to bring a stove. A small butane stove and one or two small fuel canisters and a windscreen would probably do for two people/3 days, but will eat up your budget if you don't already have one. Or you can make a simple alcohol stove from a cat food can (Google "Super Cat Stove") and a wind screen made from a piece of roof flashing, all for less than $15 including fuel (denatured alcohol).

Water is going to be a big space/weight problem. You'll need minimum 2 Liters per person per day for drinking, cooking and cleaning, and you'll probably want twice as much to be comfortable. That's 3 gallons of water to carry. Better would be to carry a couple of liters of water for your first day hike, then replenish using whatever ground water is available. But to avoid getting sick, you would need to purify the ground water. You can boil the water, but that's not going to make it taste any better, and takes a lot of time and fuel. You can use purification tablets/drops, but again, that's not going to make the water taste better. I'd recommend getting a water filter, but you're up against budget issues again, since a good water filter is going to run between $80 and $120 (First Need XL would be the best at $120, then there's the MSR Sweetwater at round $95, and Katadyn Hiker Pro at around $80).

If you know how to lay a campfire and have access to dry wood, you shouldn't need any firestarters. But sometimes the weather or environment doesn't cooperate. Rather than those big firestarter bricks, coat some cotton balls with petroleum jelly. They light easily, and if you fluff them up a bit first, take a spark quickly from a fire steel, and burn for up to 15 minutes. Watch the YouTube video in the sources to learn how to build up a fire. Don't forget to bring a folding saw and/or hatchet to cut wood, plus a small shovel to bury the ashes when you're done. Also remember that ground fires might be prohibited, so check before you set out on your trek to avoid getting fined.

Are There Play Kitchens and Playhouses for a Tall Six Year Old?

Lilgirl

I'm looking for one to purchase. The six year old is 47 inches tall. I was looking at the KidKraft Large Kitchen in pastel. There doesn't seem to be anything along these lines for a tall girl whose waist comes to about 28 inches from the floor. Same thing with playhouses. She would have to bend at the waist while in it. Any advice, suggestions? I put a question similar to this in Toys, but figured I'd ask here as well. Thanks all for answering! Happy Holidays!!!

However, how's this for irony - My 8 year old is 49" (that would be about the 28 percentile), but she's about the same size as your daughter. So here is what my kid still fits in.
All the plastic playhouse - too small and awkward. She will be able to get in and think it's cool, but it's not comfortable enough to play in.

The plastic kitchens too small. The expensive wooden kitchens - just fine. They are small, but the pieces can be moved around and you don't get that small feeling.

Perfect playhouse - it's for the indoor - my size barbie pegasuscastle. We have had ours for 2-3 years and I know they made one last year or the year before. It seems pricey, but it's very nice. The kids like to kneel in it, so it's not too sure and it's really nice. It has a cloth (tent-like) that goes over a plastic frame. The catch is - can you find one? I don't know. If you can't, you can build wooden playhouses or get cool pop-up tents for preteens.

Keep in mind, people will treat your daughter like she is older and expect her to act more mature. So, she will most likely want toys for older girls sooner than her peers. Studies have shown that the higher expectations for taller children help them as young adults. As adults taller people are considered more successful.

We also built a sky-fort, kind of a cross between a wooden swing set and a tree house. (This was in part for her giant cousin who's got his aunt's tall genes - so he could play with her).

Another thing we did for my daughter (expecting her to be a giant like me), I bought oversized party dresses on clearance, so she's have dress-up clothes. The clothes work great for some of her taller friends now.

Just make sure you keep telling her how cool it is to be tall. She'll be able to carry off a lot of styles of clothes as a young woman. Being able to reach top shelves is a big asset in life. Changing celling bulbs without a stepladder or stool is nice, too. Most men love tall woman. A longer torso makes everything from swimming to pregnancy easier. May someone can tell me some great things about being tiny to tell my minature daughter?

Anybody here buy IKEA kids furniture before?

The Jolly

I'm a little peeved now that I found out my sons convertible crib was recalled in April. :( Now I'm trying to find something quickly (and cheap) until I find a bedroom set I really like.

Any experience with IKEA childrens furniture? I was thinking he would like this because I could flip it upside down and make it like a little bed cave for him lol (he loves tents) http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10123996
Oh god no... I don't sound like a popsicle mom do I? lol

I just don't want to deal with this right now... I'm getting sick, the kid is getting sick and now I worry about putting him in that bed. Ugh.

Do it do it do it

Here it is playhouse-d up: http://www.ohdeedoh.com/ohdeedoh/inspiration/from-kura-loft-bed-to-playhouse-reader-project-109617

Most of my house is Ikea; it is perfect for kids -- looks okay, cheap enough so its getting trashed is not a tragedy.

I spent my childhood pleading for their little loft beds each year when the catalogue came out. Every effing year: "No, because you'll outgrow it in no time. You'll think it's babyish and then we'd have to go out and buy you a new bed." Every year!!

Which meant that in my _twenties_ I had to go out and buy something like this: http://www.divorcemag.com/images/Image/ikeaPE060576.jpg

because of all that deprivation in my childhood. Be kind and let him get "loft bed" out of his system now, so he doesn't embarrass himself later.

We have a bit of kiddie Ikea here and it's great -- this in particular http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40100253 is wonderful; I would've adored a chair like that as a kid. My daughter uses it as both play spot and as relaxation hideaway.

theme for kids party?

sissie

I'm planing to do a BDAY party for my son, I was thinking of doing spiderman theme.
So, how can I decorate the place, from candy bags to table decoration?
I will really appreciate the help ((:

Answer
The color theme for this party is red and black. Cover your table with a white sheet for easy cleaning. Then run some red and black streamers down the center of the table. Make a centerpiece with a Spiderman toy, the birthday cake, or a bouquet of balloons placed inside a Spiderman gift bag. Scatter some toy spiders around the table. Add matching plates, napkins and cups. Hang a few Spiderman posters, balloons and matching streamers. For a fun effect use black streamers to create a web hanging from your ceiling.

You can also make fun "spider treats"...one way is to melt chocolate and add chow mein noodles and remove using 2 forks to grab the clump...add 2 mini M&M's for eyes and let dry on wax paper or foil.

Another way is to use Oreo cookies: add pieces of cut skinny licorice for legs on each side poked into cookie cream...."paste" 2 Mini M&M's for eyes on with frosting.

I'm sure there must be gift bags in Spiderman theme at party goods store. Fill with tattoos, candies, a toy like a mini Slinky--hand out coloring books of Spiderman or whatever you can find in the stores. As the big treat, guest gets a Spiderman book or a Spiderman tooth brush. Each bag has Spiderman fruit snacks, Spiderman Cheese Snacks, Spiderman stickers, Spiderman fruit roll-ups, and a Spiderman CD filled with Spidey songs....are some ideas.

A Spiderman Pinata is another idea for activity to do.

Play a Spidey Game:

Spiderman Web Walk
To Make: On black construction paper draw webs with Elmers Glue. Then sprinkle glitter on the webs. Let the webs dry. Once they have dried, cut off the excess black area. Laminate the webs. Tape bad characters on all the webs, except one. Place spiderman on one of the webs.

How to play:
Each player stands on web. music begins and all players walk on the web. When the music stops, draw a character. Person standing on that character must sit down. Keep playing till all characters have been drawn. The last person standing will be standing on Spiderman and is the winner. Play again!

As an activity: Buy some cheap shower curtains from dollar store...have kids decorate them as capes to wear during the party....Have children decorate a mask to make their own superhero mask. Use stickers, stamps, crayons, and markers.

Spiderman Catch a Bad Guy Relay
Split players into two teams. Each player must put on the cape, go through the spider cave (tunnel), shoot a bad guy with silly string, and into the Spiderhut (a pop-up Spiderman tent). Each tent has pictures of bad guys in it. Each player must grab a bad guy, go back through the spidercave, and then take off the cape and give it to the next person. Repeat till each team member has had a turn.

Another game idea: 1.) Play Sandman, Sandman - He or she sits in a chair with their back to the group. A Spiderman doll or picture is placed under the chosen personâs chair. Then everyone would sing: Sandman, Sandman where has Spiderman gone? Somebody's saved him and he has swung home. Then Sandman has three chances to guess who took Spiderman. If Sandman guesses right then he gets to do it again. If Sandman guesses wrong than the person who had Spiderman gets a turn as the sandman.

Get a poster from Walmart...cut out Spiderman and attach to sturdy cardstock to post on mailbox so guests know where party is.

activities for kids...?

Hi Ya'll,
I babysit 3 girls ages 1, 3 and 5. Mainly it's the 3 & 5 year old for an 8 hour period and then the 1 yr old for 4 hours. They are really active (always going going going!) and I was trying to think of some activites for them to do while inside? Being outside is fine but there parents don't want them out for an excessive amount of time due to heat/sun so when they are inside I need something amusing to do for at least an hour or two at a time. Anyways, they usually don't sit still for movies very long but I did just buy playdoh, a coloring book, chalk (sidewalk), and a playdoh activity kit which I hope will keep them amused. Any other ideas...?

Thanks!!
~Sarah

PS The girls do have there own toys to play with, but they usually get bored within 10 min. (just aren't "cool" anymore) so please dont suggest that. It never works! haha. :o)

Answer
I love children.. I highly sujest getting a babysitting bag together. Most children are not interested in their toys because no one has really sat down with them and show them how to play with the toys.. Get your self on a schedule play time with them. Since you are the one person that is around them the most a schedule is the best. And they really respond to order..
Children at this age Love Love 3 and 5
Story Time (make different voices to fit characters)
Puppet Time
Dress Up
Make a tent out of the kitchen table or in living room..Or in the bedroom..
The five year old should really be into playing mommy and the three year old is just starting in this area. So playing house. Which leads to play time in the world of imagination..
Pretend Cooking, Baby care, cleaning, Rest rant, This activity will and can go on for hours and they like to play it almost daily.
Playdoh is a great activity I agree make sure to cover the floor if it is on carpet..Be ready to have the colors mixed. The three year old will love to mix the colors and the older one will want them kept separate. So maybe their very own play doe for play doe time. Stinging big beads on a shoe lace../Ball time play..each needs own ball and also together time. rolling it on the ground.learning to catch.. the five year old should like tossing the ball up in the air..
Five Year Olds:
Teach sack-walking and "twist-em," "statue," or "freeze" games to provide an outlet for their drive for physical activity.
Play games that can teach right and left directions, like "Hokey-Pokey," "Looby-Loo," and "Simon Says."
Ask 5-year-olds to tell you a story. Write it down and post it on the wall or refrigerator
Three Year Old
Play musical games such as "London Bridge," "Ring-around-the-Rosie," and "Farmer in the Dell. Also they love to jump and hop.. show them "how to hop like a rabbit, tiptoe like a bird, waddle like a duck, slither like a snake, and run like a deer.Box play and anything they can hide in.. Making silly faces..
One year old..
will love play doe too.. All will love bubbles..ball play too..called "Roll it to me"

Have Fun.. Hope this helps. ^^

Answer
I bought a $30 tent from Wal-Mart that says it is good for 4 people. They must have meant 4 kids because it is nowhere near big enough for 4 adults. Nonetheless, it is a great tent for $30 that the kids would definitely enjoy.

Best kids camping tent?

Raul

I have been looking for a cool but fun kids camping tent so i can camp with my kids in my backyard before it gets too cold (might be too late). I shopped around and found some, but don't know which one to choose yet (i do like the videos on these pages, that's cool): (1) http://www.bongobing.com/products/pacific-play-tents-one-touch-play-tent-374218, (2) http://www.bongobing.com/products/pacific-play-tents-jungle-safari-play-tent-and-tunnel-374312. Here are some results when using this site for kids camping tent: http://www.bongobing.com/info/camping-tent

What is the best family camping tent? Experienced campers are needed!

Emilee

I would like to purchase a family camping tent for my husband and kids - only problem, I don't know ANYTHING about camping! I know I would like a 2 or 3 room tent, but I would like to be able to stand up in the side rooms. Some of the tents I have looked at it appears that you must "crawl" into the side tents. Is this a common thing? Also what do you suggest I purchase as necessities along with the tent? Sleeping bags, cots, stove? Any help is greatly appreciated, again I have never in my life camped so this is completely new to me.

What are some things that you find essential for camping? Things that you don't leave home without???
