Does anyone have any good summer love stories when you were young?

Like with a guy/girl that you like. Staying up late at night with them hanging out. I always wanted to experience that with someone I think its cool. Could you share your story like a summary? Eric Church's Springsteen makes me think of that lol (:

Answer
So here's my story(Since I had nothing better to do on a saturday evening :P)

It was mid august and I decided to go up to summer camp for a couple of weeks.
By my surprise there were already a few people that I knew that were going.Jackson a guy that I barely knew at the time and Trenton,a good but younger friend of mine.So when I got there I greeted Trenton and I said Hello to Jackson.A few days later I started hanging out with Jackson. He was so sweet and so kind to me.Then one warm evening he confessed his love for me at the beach, where the sun was gently setting. It was romantic. At the time, we were both 14 years old.So yep,we had loads of energy to stay up very late at night and gaze at the stars. So when it was about 2am we would sneak out of our large canvas tents and meet at the campsite docks. We would tell stories about our lives and wonder if we were soul mates for life.We would also go sailing together.Every night before going to bed,we would build a campfire and sing songs until we were sleepy and went to bed and got back up at 2.It was the best summer of my life and I will never forget it.

Can you help me remember the title of this movie?

Tarnished

I remember watching this weird show when I was younger could've been about urban legends or something. It was in the 90's, a bunch of short stories. A grandma puts her little dog in the microwave, possibly to dry it off and it explodes all over her and the kitchen. There's this outdoor bathroom at a school and the janitor turns into a monster or alien or something. There were some kids camping in a tent telling scary stories. Lots of random information, but do you remember this show???

Answer
The Willies (1990)
starring Sean Astin, James Karen, Dana Ashbrook, Bill Erwin, Kimmy Robertson, Kathleen Freeman
Synopsis:
While trying to scare each other by telling bedtime horror stories in a tent, Michael, Kyle and Josh recount a variety of tales of a large, KFC-eating woman eating a fried rat, an old man dying in a haunted house, an old woman putting her poodle in a microwave, a nerd feeding his teacher and school bullies to a monster which turns out to be the school janitor, and a cruel boy's obsession with dead flies, which soon gets serious when his flies become powered by manure.

Have you ever taken the kids camping?

Q. We are taking our 3 kids camping, our youngest is 5 and this is her first time going. Any advice/tips? It's going to be really cold outside. Our husband is going crazy preparing for this trip and the two older ones are going crazy over having to leave their friends for one day!! OH so horrible, they may die! :) lol.

I am not quite the most sporty girl out there, but i'm getting excited!
Do you guys like to camp? Any advice/tips is appreciated!

Answer
Our family camped for most of our children's lives. I had never camped before. My husband had done it all his life. Lots of matches to light fires. Instant hot chocolate powder to keep the kids warm. Instant oatmeal. Extra socks, mittens and jackets. A first aid kit. A propane heater for your tent. You do not state where you live, or what the surroundings are like except that you will experience cold. Camping is one of the most family bonding experiences that you can have. We always brought along a chapter book to read outloud before bed inside the tent, and around the campfire. One of the best books to start out with is "The Hatchet" by Gary Paulson. It is a story about a young boy who gets lost in the wilderness alone and has to survive. This is a great story to bring because it is easy to relate to him since you are out in the wild too. There will be many mishaps, but when your family gets together in years to come, it is reminiscing with love and laughter about these events. Even if your first experience is not what you expected, try it again in different weather and conditions. Being outdoors away from all the electronics is so refreshing to body and soul. There is nothing better than camping as a family to bond you together.

I am new to tent camping and need help. How do you use an electrical hookup in a campground?

I am going to camp in a Yogi Bear campground in a site that says "Water and Electrical Hookup". Does that mean I can use an extension cord with a strip on the end of it that has plugs in it?
I can find lots of info on tent camping on the internet, but nothing that explains electrical hookup. I'm a single mom. I hope I can find a veteran camper who can help me with my camping questions.

Answer
Typically, "Water and Electrical Hookups" are referring to convenient places an RV or trailer can plug in to for power and running water. Chances are, you should be able to plug an extension cord with a power strip for running some electrical items.

I say plan your trip as if the electrical won't be available, but bring a few things that will be helpful in case it is.

A few helpful camping tips:
If there's a firepit, bring a couple Duraflame logs. They last a couple hours, don't take any special gymnastics to ignite, and you can always throw regular wood on after the duraflame is burning. Remember to smother your campfire before you go to bed (Shovel dirt on it, etc).

Bring a stiff rake. Rake out the spot where you're putting your tent(s). This way, you don't end up rolling over onto a rock or acorn.

Please, please, PLEASE, clean up when you're gone. Have your kids walk all over your campsite and pick up every little bit of trash possible. (Also, bring trashbags! Not all campsites have convenient trash receptacles).

Check the temperature ranges in advance, and pack accordingly. It's a very long night when it's freezing cold and you didn't bring the winter sleeping bags. Remember that tents catch fire VERY easily, so don't put the tent next to the campfire, and don't bring electrical or gas heaters into the tent.

Bring fresh drinking water. (Those 2.5 gallon jugs with the convenient spigot are good...)

Bring a medical kit w/ all the usual refinements. Kids will always find a way to get boo-boo's.

I can almost guarantee that you will certainly overpack for your first trip. You'll find that over time you'll be able to whittle it down to the stuff you *really* need, as opposed to the stuff you think you'll need.

If you're with someone who is not a morning person, they will be much worse in the morning. Trust me.

Good luck!

How do you make an indoor tent?

Luigi fan

I wanna make an indoor tent with my bed cuz my real tent broke and my freind's coming over and we were ganna camp...
Please answer my question!

Answer
"Tents donât necessarily have to go outdoors. You can make a fun indoor tent thatâs collapsible and will give the kids hours of enjoyment. This tent doesnât need any stakes but you will have to have plenty of fabric.
How To Make A Collapsible Indoor TentSheets can be used to make curtains, tablecloths, and yes, even tents.

Consider sheets instead of other material, since theyâre inexpensive and easy to work with, for this project.

Five twin sheets will make an excellent tent. You can purchase fabric, though, in smaller yardage than the sheets, if youâd like a shorter or smaller tent. Working with sheets makes it easier, since you donât have to measure and cut each side of the tent.

Consider how much floor space you can spare for the tent. Remember that the tent is easily collapsible if it needs to be moved in a hurry. Measure out the amount of space youâre willing to give the tent, then cut a sheet or piece of fabric to that size, allowing a couple extra inches on each side for hemming, and making sure to cut the piece in a perfect square. If one end of the sheet is already hemmed, do not add the extra inches for that side.

The square piece, upon being completely hemmed, becomes the top of the tent. Each of the four remaining sheets will become a side of the tent. Stitch the first sheet onto one side of the tent, at the very top edge. Allow the edge of the tent top to barely hang over the top edge of the sheet. Continue this until you have three sides sewn onto the tent. For the fourth side of the tent, cut the sheet in half, lengthways, then hem the cut edges. Sew the sheet onto the tent, making the fourth side, including a doorway. Make tabs and sew one on the top section and one on the bottom section of each sheet edge. These are used to tie the sides shut.

In order to hang the collapsible tent insert four eye hooks into the ceiling. To make the tent collapse out of the way of guests, insert two of the eye hooks next to the top ceiling molding. The four hooks should align with the four corners of the tent top.
String wire through the tent at all four corners. Wad the wire into a ball shape at each end, inside the tent, to keep it from coming out when hung. String the wire up to the eye hooks, making sure to get the tent top level and even. Simply wrap the wire around the eye hook and itâll hang until ready to collapse.

To collapse the tent just undo the front two wires. To remove the tent completely, just remove all four wires from the eye hooks. The tent is easy to hang again, and the kids will have a blast when they play in it."

What is a good place to car camp south or north of Anchorage Alaska in the winter?

large cabin tents camping on Northwest Territory tents are affordable and sturdy camping tent ...
large cabin tents camping image
Q. Want to go camping this weekend, but don't want to rent a cabin. Parks up here frown on you sleeping in your car, but this would be ideal for me as I have everything I need in it, and don't want to tent camp in 10 degree weather. Are there any places around Anchorage where you can park and sleep in your car without being bothered by anybody. Also, would like to get into the wilderness as much as possible

Answer
You didn't specify how far you were interested in traveling, but if you drive north on either the Parks Highway toward Fairbanks or up the Glenn into the interior of the state, you will likely be able to sleep in pullouts without an issue. I have pulled off and slept in the car several times up here without any issues as there are large expanses of highway with no services.

I think the same is probably true headed south toward Homer, though I have always driven that in one shot.

Since you are already up here, you probably already know that you should prepare for some possible nasty weather.

Have fun!

How to choose a family base camping tent?

Ivy

I am planning to buy a family camping tent, what things should I consider?

Answer
1. Consider how many people will be sleeping in the tent and if you'll be requiring one or two tents to house everyone. Make sure you have enough room for everyone to be comfortable. Every tent has its dimensions specified on the package, listing how many people it will house and how big it is. If you're looking for roomy comfort, subtract the number of people the tent says it will hold by one or two.

2. Figure out what style of tent will best suit your needs. There are two basic types of tents: dome and cabin. While there are a variety of styles of both, each has its own advantages and disadvantages. A dome tent is easier to assemble, having only two poles for the tent and one for the top cover. Since it's shaped like a dome, you'll give up some space in its height. A cabin tent offers more room since it is built in a square shape, but because it has more poles, it can take longer to assemble and be heavier to carry. If you're looking to house more than four people comfortably and have only one tent, a cabin tent is probably the best option.

3. Consider what extra requirements you need in your tent to properly accommodate you and your group. Do you want an extra attached screen room or a tent with several rooms? Do you have a tall person in the pack that will want to stand up straight while inside the tent? Will you be spending large amounts of time inside the tent? All of these things need to be thought out before you buy a tent. There are many varieties of tents on the market that come at a variety of prices.

4. Think about the area where you will be setting up your base camp tent and what the weather will be like. If you'll be camping in a cold region, you don't want a tent that has a screened top with a liner that allows more air inside. You also don't want a tent that allows little ventilation if you're staying in a hot area.

5. Consider the camping experience of the people you're camping with. If you're a novice camper, you might want a tent that's easy to set up. Generally, the fewer poles you have to deal with, the easier it is to set up and take down and the lighter weight.

Arthur kad

We wanna go take a vacation to see wild animals like lions, tigers, buffalo, zebras, elephants, and other animals that live with them where would be the best place to see them wild in one of those jeeps you see on tv? I want it to be clean we're we live but able to see the wild life were gonna be with two family's so we need a big place. Please give me some reccomendations on where to go I'm thinking south Africa but I can be wrong thanks and could someone give me an estimate for 6 adults and three kids please thank you.

Answer
If you go to South Africa you are sure to see Lions, Buffalo, Zebra, Elephant and lots of other animals. If you want to see Tigers in their natural habitat, best bet is to go to India.

Rent a jeep from a car hiring place.

Accommodation places in National Parks are clean. You can book your accommodation to suit your whole party (like the size of bungalo or chalet you will stay in) with the National Park once you have decided on one. If you are more adventurous, and you want to get really close to nature, there are options to camp in tents as well in designated areas that is relatively safe from wild animals.

Kruger National Park is a good one, also Addo Elephant Park. But dont be limited to these. There really are lots to choose from.

If you are looking what its gonna cost you, contact your local travel agent.

Here is just extra information.

Are there going to be any new avatar movies or a spinoff?

A.k

Ok i know that avatar the last airbender ended, but there is still so much more to know like what happened to zukos mom and katara's (maybe) and i only say that because katara said that they never found her mom after the firebender was in her tent and when katara found him he said he wasn't taking prisoners, but he also didn't flat out say that he killed her unless they were just trying to make it as kid friendly as possible and I know there is a live action avatar movie coming out in 2010, but will there be anymore cartoon ones or a spinoff pleas elet me know and if you have any links to it please paste it thank you.
yes the way it sounded is like its going to be actual people and also the question that no one is asking is what about tophs family i know the whole reason why she left and eveything but you think that they would have at least had them in the final one since when she talks about them you can tll that she really loves and misses them

Answer
Yes, there will be a spin-off. The creators confirmed there will be a new show set in the avatar world. And I am speculating it is about Zuko's mom, Ursa.

according to tvguide.com there is a spin-off in the making.

The show is animated in Korea, where "pretty much all [animated] TV shows on American channels are done," explains Konietzko. "That's been the case for decades. The Simpsons, King of the Hill â they do the preproduction in America, and the production is in Korea or in some cases China, or occasionally Japan or India." The show has caught on in Korea and throughout Asia, and the guys are planning to promote the Korean artists they work with, because "a lot of the Korean public don't know that shows are made there," says Konietzko. "So we've always wanted to promote it there as a product of their artists."

Even though the trilogy is on its final leg, it hardly spells the end of Avatar: DiMartino and Konietzko are developing a new Avatar-inspired project. "Luckily the world is really expansive and we are still inspired by it; we can't stop coming up with ideas," says Konietzko. And Shyamalan's films seem like a natural extension of Avatar to the show's creators. "We're always striving to make Avatar look like a cinematic, live-action movie," says Konietzko. "It would be great if we could actually go to Iceland and shoot there." Adds DiMartino, "Considering that M. Night Shyamalan is doing it, we'll certainly shoot in Philadelphia."

Things to do while RV camping?

T

We are in our 40's & Have a few kids from 6 -16 in a 28 ft travel trailer , and looking for things to keep us busy or things to bring for a family's 1st time camping trip in the NY CT ME RI area.Tailgating ideasfor the adults are also considered. in addition to any lighting flags party favor ideas for the whole experience.. We have tent camped and just upgraded froma pop up..

Answer
Whenever I go camping, be it in a tent or an RV, I choose my destination because there's things I want to do or see there. Neither the RV (or tent) nor campground is my destination, I only go there to sleep or maybe take some meals.

We enjoy visiting national and state parks, BLM land, wilderness properties owned by friends and members of our or other Jeep clubs. We spend our time off-roading, hiking, climbing, fishing, horseback riding, kayaking, floating and just enjoying the scenery. Upstate NY - Adirondacks and Catskills regions - is a favorite destination. Maine and western Massachusetts also offers outdoor recreational and scenic opportunities. If we go to a "tourist" type area, we'll visit the typical sites, hit the shops, take lots of pictures, maybe spend one or two days relaxing by the pool at the campsite.

The only things I ever brought to keep the kids busy at camp were their bicycles, a couple of board games and some videos for them to watch on the TV or laptop in case of rain.

what are the pros/cons of a pop-up tent camper?

kids tent cot image

Woodland H

We're considering getting one (probably a 10' for our family of 4) and just want to know what all people experience and what they regret before we buy one. Thx!

Answer
Go for it.

I've owned an 8' and 10' pop-up and a 21' hybrid camper and a Class-C RV. Unless you can afford a Class-C (both the initial purchase and ongoing storage, insurance and maintenance), a pop-up is the way to go. Comfort, storage and convenience are the main benefits of a pop-up.

In terms of comfort, you are sleeping up and off the ground on a well-padded, insulated and flat surface that you can easily get into and out of without crawling around on your hands and knees. Most pop-ups have heat and many have air conditioning. During bad weather you have a well-protected and comfortable place to hang out.

While cabinet space in a pop-up, compared to larger RV's, is limited, it is still sufficient to permanently organize and store all the reusable gear and supplies you need for a camping trip. All your kitchen and dining stuff, cleaning stuff, bedding, etc can be permanently stowed in the cabinets or under the dinette benches. Larger items such as a tabletop BBQ grill, cooler, folding table and chairs can be organized on the floor to fit when the pop-up is closed, and still leave room to add groceries and clothing just before heading out on a trip.

As for convenience, first and foremost is most pop-ups can be towed by lightweight trucks, SUV/CUV and some mid-sized cars. They are small enough that most people store them in their backyard, driveway or garage, saving lot storage fees. With adequate storage to be fully packed and ready to go (except for groceries and clothing), taking that spur of the moment trip is a breeze.

The Cons:

As compared to tent camping, the only con is you're not going to to be backwoods camping or taking it backpacking. There is some annual maintenance required, most of which can be DIY, though I prefer to have pros deal with anything involving propane.

As compared to other RV choices? The biggest disadvantage is the time setting-up the pop-up and unloading the stuff stowed on the floor before you can use the pop-up at all. This means that if you're going on a long distance trip with many short stays, setup and breakdown can be tedious. Clothing storage is a bit problematic in a pop-up, you will need to live out of your suitcases which get stowed on the bunks by day and tucked under the dinette table or on counters by night.

Some things to think about:

A front, outside storage trunk is a wonderful feature.

Unless you plan to do a lot of dispersed / dry camping, don't bother with a bathroom in a pop-up. Although it might seem nice, there's practically no privacy. That space is better used for storage and/or seating.

An outside shower is almost an essential feature. A water heater is also a nice-to-have feature, but it does eat up storage space. A portable, water heater such as Eccotemp, Camp Chef, even Zodi costs around $100 and takes up less space.

Slide-outs on a pop-up are also a mixed bag. A slide-out adds significant weight and, when closed, steals valuable floor space. Most of the time you'll only be in the pop-up when sleeping or to escape bad weather. Having a few extra square feet of floor space when the slide is out does not make up for the lost storage when its closed.

One awning is essential, but two awnings are better. Add a second awning to the back side of your pop-up where you can setup your dining or picnic table. This leaves the normal front-side awning for lounging and relaxation.

Consider an add-a-room or screen room. The screen room is less expensive and will help protect you from insects. An add-a-room has opaque panels with screens in them, and roll-up flaps so you can close the screens for a private, sheltered area. We've used an add-a-room with the second back-side awning and cots to sleep an extra three people in comfort and privacy.

If you have two kids make sure your camper can sleep at least 6, as your kids will usually want to bring friends or relatives along. Once boys get to be about 10-12 years old they will not want to share a bed, but girls -- even teenage girls-- have no problems sharing with a female friend or cousin.

In many pop-ups the dinette bed is less than six feet long. Try to find a model with a dinette bed that measures 72" x 48" so you can fit two full-size people.

Buy used and save a ton. Most folks only use their pop-up a few times each year. Others buy one and use it a few times, then let it sit, while a few use it once and have a change of mind or situation. Even a 10 year-old pop-up is worth considering if it has been kept and stored well.

What creative ideas do you have for a reality show?

Jennifer

Answer
I think they should go to war and follow soldiers around all day and let people on "reality" shows see what life is really like. I think they could show how hard it is to be at war, and how hard it is for the families at home to carry on and handle all the crisis with a spouse gone. I think they could show how hard it is for soldiers to really be away from their kids. They could show what it is like to live in a tent and sleep on a cot and walk 220 steps to the bathroom tent. They could show how hard it is for a parent to raise their kids with the other parent gone, or how kids deal with their parent gone. How does a parent feel when they have to go back to war and their 6-year-old is begging them to stay because he was a good boy. I think that would make a good "reality" show, instead of a bunch of people on tv whining about stupid things. Show something real.

How to stop toddler getting cold in bed?

kids tents for beds on Disney Cars Bed Tent | Shop kids, parenting, family | Kaboodle
kids tents for beds image

lucky gal

My two year old sleeps in a single bed, but up until now has still been in his Grobag. He's tall for his age and is therefore getting too big for the sleeping bag, but when I try him under the duvet no matter how well I tuck it in he ends up uncovered and cold in the night.

Has anyone ideas on how to address this? I've seen duvet clips in the shops, but am not sure I like the idea of pinning him under the covers like that.

Answer
Will he wear fleece footie pajamas? I know some kids won't, but my son loves them and they keep him warm throughout the night because he's zipped up from head to toe in a little cocoon...

If he won't, you can always try to get a bigger sleeping bag... my son has a toddler size Transformers one from Target that he snuggles with in the play tent in his room; it was pretty cheap but very warm.

Personally, I wouldn't try a heater just because my toddler is always curious and the orange glow from the heater would just be asking for my son to reach out and grab it, obviously leading to far worse problems. Maybe if you can get one that can go on a shelf or somewhere out of reach, that could work for you. I personally wouldn't risk having one of those around my child while he is unsupervised. lol
Good luck =)

What color or exactly to decorate my kids bedroom?

Proud mom

I am moving to a house and will needed painted. I wanted to paint and decorate my kids room. Both of them are boys. Three and a five year old. They both will be sleeping in the same room together. I am trying to figure out want to do for them to be happy in our new place and they like cars and balls. I really want it to be special.

Answer
Do you have a bed? If not-here is a link for a loft bed w/a tent. Its so cute. Too bad its not a bunk bed, though. Then you could get the sports bean bags, basketball clothes hamper.. etc

sports bed:
http://www.roomville.com/products/productDetail.asp?PROD_ID=357&DEPid=0&ROOT_dept=0

sports bean bag chairs:
http://www.target.com/gp/search.html/601-6331324-2538546?field-keywords=basketball%20bean%20bag%20chair&afid=yahoosspslp&lnm=basketball%20bean%20bag%20chair&ref=tgt_adv_XSJH1060

I wish my 4 year old wanted sports, I have found many more ideas and things to go with sports. but he wants monster trucks! I may get a tire and dip it in brown paint and make muddy tire tracks over his blue walls. Then hang posters up and maybe even get a wall murial. Also hang or paint road signs. if you do a search on wall murials and/or road signs you will find lots of ideas. the murials are really too expensive for me so I may try to do it myself! (MAYBE) they also have the wall "stick ups" for sports or cars. they are removable stickers. do a search if your interested.
anyway. good luck and have fun!

How can I design a camping themed room for my 10 year old?

Q. My son loves the outdoors. He wants his room to be a camping theme. In other words, he wants a tent to sleep in, things with boats, fishing, etc. I would love for him to have a tent to sleep in, but I also want to put his mattress in the tent so he won't have to sleep on the floor!! Is this doable? How big of a tent would I have to get? Can you even put a tent up in your house without having to stake it down?
Any ideas would be great!
Thanks!

Answer
there are many toy tents available these days for kids in the market made of parachute material that are long lasting and i guess they are big enough to accomodate a mattress, if not, even if the mattress peaks out a little, it is no problem, you can rope in the tent higher and it will give a spread over effect, these tents are meant for small children only and can be placed in the rooms!

along with it, you can go to a supermarket and check out the fishing section, there you will find wooden boats decorated in corners, you can buy one of these and place it in one corner of the room, it will give the out door effect, you can also get a artifical tree to place in one corner of the room, it will all enhance the outdoor effect, apart from that, try to paint the room in light green and light brown combination or even sky blue color to foster the image of being outdoors

What all do I need for a camping trip?

kids tents and sleeping bag sets on Customer Review About Kids Tent Set with Sleeping Bag, Folding Chair ...
kids tents and sleeping bag sets image

nerdie

This weekend I'm going camping with some friends. We all are in our early mid 20's and we haven't really gone camping on our own. What all do i need to bring. I already have a tent, sleeping bag, cooler, first aid kit. hot dogs, bbq, beer. and all that good stuff. But besides the main stuff what should I bring, and like what to do when were are not hiking or on the lake.

Answer
Plastic Dish Pan This keeps stuff from rolling all over in the trunk and comes in handy for dish washing and bathing.
Paper Plates Twice as many as you think you need. Bring plenty, they burn very well for fire starting purposes.
Can Opener
Cup-O-Noodles
Granola Bars
Silverware 2x everyone in your party. Bring some regular silverware and some plastic stuff.
Napkins or Paper Towels
Toothpicks
Coffee (Sugar / Cream) The makings for a good cup of coffee. Also, single serving coffee bags or tea bags
Beef Stew
Corned Beef Hash Great with eggs!
Canned Pie Filling Excellent!
Ravioli Even good cold and kids love it!
Macaroni and Cheese Very soupy but tasty.
Baked Beans
Soups Pick the stuff your family likes best.
Canned Vegetables Green beans, peas, mushrooms, corn, carrots, etc.
Canned Fruits Pineapple, applesauce, peaches, pears, apricots, etc.
Bread Bring a good loaf of bread.
Cheese Cheddar or mozzarella
Sandwich Meat
Butter
Condiments Almost all condiments will keep well - Just make them easy to get to.
Adult Beverages
Kids Drinks
Hot Dogs Excellent food.
Box of Cereal Cherrios, Chex's, any cereal that requires no sugar. Eat this out of a cup. It's a quick and easy breakfast.
S'more Fixings Marshmallows, Hershey chocolate bars, and graham crackers!
Zip-Lock Storage Bags Really handy if you hate seeing your butter floating around in the bottom of the cooler.
Aluminum Foil
Spatula
Cooking Utensils A serving spoon, a pitch fork, a pair of tongs, and a good knife.
Hot Pads
Clothes Pin
Frying Pan I use an old cast iron pan.

Car / Glove Box
Car Registration
Car Insurance Information
Medical Insurance Bring everyone's cards; better safe than sorry.
Travelers Check Receipts
Camera and Film Many cameras take strange batteries - bring a spare!
Bring a Book If you read, bring something. You never know where you'll be waiting.
Your Wallet
Your Drivers License Obvious, but please make sure!
Your AAA Card If you don't have one, I recommend you get one. Free tows in the U.S.A. are only the beginning. Your policy may say they only tow 7 miles - but that's not the full truth. AAA will tow you seven miles in town.
Your Checkbook Most self-service campgrounds accept checks.
Your Credit Cards and ATM Cards Yes, I have left my VISA at home accidentally- the only time I have needed it.
Money Don't bring hundreds please!
Water I use a large container for the bulk of the water and keep a soda bottle with water in reach for drinking in the car or on hikes.
Maps
Toys Let your kids pick out what they want.
Snacks Good distractions for the little ones.
Towels I use them as seat covers to protect from accidents for easy packing.

Clothing

Good Hat
Rain Poncho
Bug Head Net
Multi-Pocket Vest A great piece of apparel. Keeps all your little items handy.
Sport Sandals
Long Underwear
Filp-Flops Great for showering in as well as lake swimming

New tent? Practice setting it up in the backyard before going on a trip.
Invest in good sleeping equipment. Choose air mattresses, cots, or sleeping bags that will give you adequate rest so you can get the most out of your daytime activities.
Stay dry:
Use a ground cloth under your tent as protection from rips and moisture.
Use the rain fly, even if the sky looks clear.
To prevent rain from leaking into your tent, apply a seam sealant to the inside and outside of all exposed tent seams.
Keep your tent clean:
A whisk broom is handy for sweeping out dirt and leaves.
Place an indoor/outdoor rug in front of your tent entrance for dirty shoes.
Bring duct tape for quick repairs of small tears, splintered tent poles and the like.

Kamping Kabins, Kottages and Lodges
Our Kamping Kabins, Kottages and Lodges provide space, comfort and privacy for family fun. Even on cool, wet days, you can stretch out and relax with games, crafts or a good book, and enjoy the sound of rain pattering on the roof as you stay warm and dry. In addition to our basic camping checklist, here are some tips for campers staying in KOA Kabins, Kottages or Lodges:

We provide beds, but you'll still need to bring bedding (sleeping bags or linens, and pillows).
Don't forget bath towels and personal items.
Cookware and utensils are provided at some locations, so be sure to check with the campground before you pack. Otherwise, plan on bringing your own.
For fun on rainy days and lamp-lit evenings, consider packing puzzles, cards and board games inside zippered bags for spill-proof transporting.

How else can I screw with my kids?

Not The Ma

I'm trying to think of ways to mess with my kid's heads. So far I've got:

1. Nod my head up and down when I say "no" and side to side for "yes"

2. make up gibberish words for common objects.

3. Die the milk blue or green at various times a year and tell them that's just what happens sometimes to milk. Then they will grow up thinking that the milk naturally turns colors on occasion and their friends will think they're insane.

4. Whenever i have to sign something for school, I will do it in pencil and erase several times, so it looks like they forged it and they will get into trouble.

5. Occasionally I'll make a chocolate-type dessert and cover it with gray, coarse sugar and pretend I picked it out of the cat litter box, and then I'll eat it after dinner. But, I'll treat it how adults treat alcohol and say things like "no, you can't have any. This is only for adults. Kids wouldn't like cat poop"

6. Have a room or door that's always locked and tell them their older bother lives there and can't come out. If they ask why, I'll say, "He really didn't do anything wrong, he just wasn't that interesting".

7. Give them odd chores like dust the underside of all the tables and shelves and have them count to make sure all 200 tooth picks came in the box. (that actually might be educational).

8. Tell them that indeed money does grow on trees. My job is to harvest the money and then put it in the bank. That's where I go all day. I will sometimes glue money to the trees outside to confirm this truth.

9. Make up a wonderful place better than Disney World and tell them we'll get there eventually. Keep telling them this until they're old enough to realize I'm lying. (this one is probably too mean).

10. Tell them there's a God. (I actually don't find this one very entertaining, I just wanted to say it first before any people in Y!A world say it.)

Any other suggestions?
I'm looking for humorous answers Jack. Thumbs down to you for being so serious.
Sorry I wasted your precious time while you're answering stranger's random questions. By bad. Didn't realize you were so busy.
I like the history one. Or possibly that slavery was just abolished like 10 years ago and every black person you see is just recently free.

Thanks Rikki. Exactly what i'm looking for. The Oreo one is great.
I guess this joke is over your head Mom? Fun fact: There was a time in my life when my shoe size was larger than my age i.e. I was 11 wearing a size 12.

Answer
here are other things you can do :p Surprise!

Put snickers and toilet paper in all d toilets and bathtubs/showers.

Juice or Water?
Fill a glass with water. Add food dye so it matches the color of whatever juice you have in your refrigerator. Serve the "juice" to your family. They will be expecting something sweet and getting water so it will taste funny at first. Don't forget to watch the funny faces they make!

Wrong Cereal
Here's another prank you can do at breakfast: open up all the boxes of cereal and pull the bags with the cereal in them out of the boxes. Put each bag in a wrong cereal box. When your family members go to pour their cereal they will get the wrong kind!

Salty Strawberry
You'll need to prepare for this one. Bring two identical containers with one holding sugar and one holding salt. Also have strawberries. Don't show anyone your salt container. Have the sugar container out and start to eat your strawberries. Offer one to your friends and have them take one. Before they dip it in the sugar, call out something like, "Ewww, what's that?" and point to the other side of the room. Quickly pull the salt container and switch it with the sugar. Then they'll dip it in salt and their face will turn green. Everyone will laugh at the joke and so will the kid that eats it... although he may not eat strawberries with sugar anymore.

Minty Delicious
Scrape the cream out of Oreo cookies and fill them with white toothpaste!

time Warp
Turn all the clocks and watches forward one hour. Your 'rents will get up an hour earlier to get ready for work as you snooze for that extra hour.
Bouncing Showers

Sleepover
- When all the girls are sleeping, get all your ribbons and tie them in the girls' hair (at least 10 each) They'll wake up with really messy hair. LOL.
- When all the girls are sleeping, get washable markers and write all over them with the markers. They'll wake up and look in the mirror and be like, "what's that all over me?" It's hilarious to see the look on their face!
- For any sleeping girl, put their hand in a bowl of hot water. This will make them wet their pants!
- For the first girl that is sleeping, carry them out of the tent and lay them in their sleeping bag outside in the grass or on a trampoline. They'll wake up and be like, "Where am I?" It's hilarious!

Help! Umm something's missing!
- Steal all the toilet paper from the bathroom and the next person that goes #2 will be in for a little surprise!
- Steal all the towels and shampoos from the showers⦠you get the point⦠they'll have a small problem.

Early Riser
Get about three alarm clocks and set them all up for very early times. Hide all of the clocks in your victim's room and they'll have to get up and find them. By then they will be fully awake! It's hilarious if you're awake to see it!

School on Saturday?
On Saturday at a late time, yell, "Hurry up we're late for school!" then watch all of your family members race against the clock to get out of the house as fast as they can! Then let them in on the prank once they are all done! It's just too funny! BTW they may get a little mad⦠J hehe

Raccoon eyes
Before you go to a concert or something that you us binoculars for, gather all of your family's and friend's binoculars and put black marker, charcoal, or black pastel where the eyes go. Watch as they look into them and end up with raccoon eyes! Its hilarious to see the look on everyone's face that sees your family's "raccoon eyes". They may get a little mad when they find out though... J (BTW this also works with a telescope)

I found out that two kids in my class wet the bed and I told everyone. How do I make it up to them?

I'm really sorry now about what I did. I just started 8th grade. And we had an end of summer campout before school started. Anyway they put all the kids who wet the bed in one tent so people wouldn't all know about it. So I knew the other kids there were also wearing diapers. A couple of them go to school with me. So I told people and now everyone knows about them. But I feel bad about it. So what should I do now?

Answer
tell even more people that you wet the bed every night..and you also wet your pants during the day sometimes. That should take most of the attention off those other poor kids

My aunt and her family (husband and 4 kids) and myself are planning to go camping in October. My aunt and her family went to Lake Lopez near San Luis Obispo, California and had asked me if I knew any other places to go camping. So does anyone know of good camp sites in California? Her kids are 13 and under so consider a family friendly place with showers and such. Thanks!

My son is 4 1/2 and my daughter just turned 3. Sometimes we can't get outside. We're looking to cure the boredom!
Please don't suggest tv or movies because I want to do something to keep them active.

Answer
Oh, do the same things the kids would do in preschool:

Art and crafts. - have them make puppets to go along with a story.
Allow them to make up a story to ago along with the puppets.
Make sun catchers. - clear contact paper and tissue paper is all that is needed.
Make a necklace out of noddles - yarn and noddles are all you need. You can paint the noddles.

Finger painting, painting with a paint brush, painting with pine cones, painting with acorns (You'll need a piece of paper, a large zip loc food container. - cut the paper to fit inside the container then drop in some paint and acorns, and let the kids shake. - be sure to put the lid on.)
Painting with a leaf.
Paint with a old toy car (wheels). push the car along a piece of paper after dipping the wheels in paint.
paint with anything you can put dip in paint.

Read a book and then have the kids act it out.

Play dress-up.

Build a farm with blocks, get animals from another toy to use.

Make a tent out of a table.

Read books

pretend to be airplanes.

Spin in circles until you are dizzy.

Call out animals for your children to "act like" - You call out "dog" and your kids get on all fours and bark.

Play Simon says

Play Ring around the Roses.)

Turn a box into something. - A house, a car, etc...color, paint, use stickers, to decorate.

Be SILLY!

What are some cool 15th birthday ideas for about 5 girls?

as;lgkj0q2

Birthday's coming up, wanna have a fun party. They will probably all sleep over, but what are some fun things we could do?

Answer
Have your guest bring sleeping bags, flashlights, pajamas, fuzzy slippers, etc.

1. Tie a balloon with string around your guest's ankles. On "go" everyone tries to stomp on everyone else's balloon.

2. Give all guests a toothpick to put in between their teeth. They form a line and try to pass a lifesaver or any candy with a hole in it to everyone with using only your toothpick.

3. Put truth and dare cards in a balloon and have guests pick a balloon pop it and answer the truth or do the dare.

4. Play hide and go seek at night

5. Have a silly string war

6. Put a cookie on your forehead and get it to your mouth by using facial expressions only

7. Have one girl be the pointer. She points at one girl to start off a random story then she points to another girl to continue it, and so on

8. Have a girl leave the room while everyone hides in their sleeping bags. The girl comes in and feels the bodies to guess who it is.

8. Have friends bring over board games to play

9. Have an equal pile of m&ms for every girl. One teen starts off by saying I have never... (I have never gone to Hawaii) If it is true for you, eat an m&m. Whoever has the most left wins!

10. Have a bowl of small multicolored candy (like skittles) Have everyone grab 2 candies. If they have the same color you get to eat them. If not you must keep this in your mouth. Round after round you stuff sweets into your mouth until you have 2 of the same color.

11. Play a classic game of truth or dare

12. Watch a movie.

13. Freeze dance

14. Give each other makeovers, BLINDFOLDED!

15. Play "Do You Like Your neighbor?".

16. Paint each other's finger nails.

17. Play hide and go seek in the dark!

18. Rent lots of movies!

19. Treasure hunt in the dark. (have people bring a flashlight to use)

20. Have a dance off... with bubble wrap. Try to pop the most bubbles.

21. Indoor picnic! Pack a basket of goodies, lay out a blanket in the living room, and enjoy a indoor picnic!

22. Tea party! Pull out your finest doll china (if the kids can be trusted with it) and serve hot cider, finger sandwiches, and fancy cookies. As you play you can even teach your guests proper manners for a formal occasion (ediquete).

23.Camp out! Clear some space in the basement, pitch a tent, pull out your sleeping bags, and let the kids sleep inside. (Teddy Bears optional.)

24. To a huge puzzle all together! Put your smarts together to figure it out!

25. Dance! Teach the kids your favorite dance.

26. Test Your Taste Buds! Have one person make something from ingredients in the kitchen and then other person has to put on a blindfold and eats the food. The person with the blindfold on then makes a guess at what the food is or what ingredients are in it.

27. Drama Bag Game - Fill shopping bags with 5 different items in each bag. A shoe, hat, party favor etc. - but fill each bag with different things. Divide into teams and give each team one bag. Go to different rooms and create a skit which includes all items in the bag. After 15 minutes come back and perform. Variation: Create a song or commercial.

28. Play Maufia.

29. Talk! Late Nights are a good time for friends to just get together and talk too!

I am studying to become a primary school teacher in NSW Australia i need some ideas for a design and make lesson.

Answer
I just suggested this in answer to another question. I've done this with a year 6 class. All you need is lots and lots of newspaper and sticky tape. I rolled up sheets of newspaper to make long thin tubes (the tighter you roll the stronger they are) then i joined up the tubes (like when you put a drinking straw into the end of another straw to make a long tube). I then challenged the kids to make something in groups that could stand up by itself and was as tall as the tallest teacher in the school. Everyone had heaps of fun making things. We got a newspaper person, a house and best of all a huge pyramid that the kids then made into a tent and played with for weeks. The group that made the pyramid were the winners and each got a chocolate and a newspaper crown.

How Hard Is It For US Citizen To Work In Aus?

mariasonaw

25 years old, moving to AUS, have 12 month VISA. How hard will it be to find a job and move to Australia. No college, just general accounting/admin experience, looking to make at least $80k/yr in AUS. VISA says can only work for 6 months for one company, then have ot quit. VISA says have to leave AUS in Sept 2013.

Thsi is my kid. I think it is unrealistic, leaving Saturday. I am pretty worried! I expect a "boomerang" back home in Sept.....I can't afford to support financially if this all falls apart. Kid is convined it is easy to move to AUS, get a job, says everyone makes more $$, lots of jobs...I am skeptical

Answer
Your 'kid' is dreaming if s/he thinks they have the slightest chance of earning 80k with no qualifications on a visa on which they are only allowed to work for each employer for 6 months. For starters, they will have a very hard time finding successive 6 month full time accounting/admin work (not nearly enough jobs of that kind to meet demand) but even if they can, they won't pay anything over 50k and even that will be a stretch. Add to that the fact that the only possibility of that kind of job will be in our handful of large cities where accommodation costs are among the highest in the world and you'll see that your misgivings are well founded. S/he probably won't have much trouble finding casual food service or bar work which pays a high hourly rate compared to those jobs in the USA, but there will be no tips and little prospect of much more than part time hours for earnings of maybe 40k if s/he is a really good worker.

Work and Holiday visas are NOT work visas. They are holiday visas on which holders can work to supplement the funds of AUD$5000 they are expected to have when they arrive. W&HV holders typically backpack around the country staying in cheap hostels and tents and crappy share houses and live frugally for the experience of a lifetime but they rarely do much more than survive.

Trust me.

Good luck!

Do you have any tips for camping with young children?

yahooey

We have done it before...but it has been almost 2 years. We will be tent camping with a 2 1/2 and 5 year old. We got a site with both electrical and water hookup. Any tips would be great, thanks!
we'll be at the beach.

Answer
bring their bike :) we went camping on the weekend and it was a very kid friendly park where they had activities every hour planned for the kids and it was so much fun but all the kids had bikes and my son was the only one without one.

glow sticks and sparklers are great for night time. We bought some chalk at the dollar store and my son was playing with it and like 5 kids flocked over to play with him, it was a great friend maker :)

get a laundry basket and fill it with your cooking items, that way everything is together so you can whip up a quick meal.

Can anybody give me some cheap vacation ideas?

Q. My husband and me have 2 kids, ages 10 and 1&1/2. We have very little money saved up but we're all dying for a vacation. We live in Ohio.

Answer
Hello over there in Ohio. I'm near Pittsburgh. Got a tent? I'm 30 now and some of my best memories are when we went camping. In fact those are some of the only things I can remember from that young. But go prepared by getting supplies at like Dollar General. But like them boy scouts say, go prepared for everything and have a great time. Its a bit chilly but check the forecast. Ohiopyle National Park is nice, but not much there to travel too far. But a nice state part not tooo far from civilization. Sorry part of that wasnt answering your question. They make several room tents too. Just a fyi. Oh and the Goodwill may have camping supplies that can save you even more money. they gotten bigger as far as i know

Just to add after reading the aboves answer you can go to google and maybe search for parks or state parks and then list for your zip code. like: state parks 15222

How do I make a giant Igloo for my preschool class?

Meghan

I am a preschool teacher and we are doing themes for our summer camp and one of them is an artic theme. I want to make a giant igloo in the corner of the room that the kids can walk in and out of. Any suggestions on how I can do that? I would like to some how make it out of butcher paper. Any ideas would be great. Or any ideas I can add to help decorate the room for our artic theme would be awesome. Thanks.

Answer
If you don't have or don't want to collect that many milk jugs, how about a dome shaped tent? You can find them at fairly low prices and, if you don't plan to use it for real camping outdoors, you can get a cheap one. Draw block shapes on the butcher paper and then use it to cover the tent.

Please be sure children learn that people in the Arctic do NOT live in igloos. Read up on it and give them authentic information about life in the Arctic.

I didn't read the other answers all that closely, but here are some ideas:

Put up pictures of Arctic animals. Use them later to go on an Arctic animal "safari".

Freeze water in various shaped containers. You can put in food colouring to give them colour. Float them in your water table for "icebergs".

Have kids make "Ivory Snow" pictures and put them up around the room.

Teach kids to cut out snowflakes. Hand those up around the room.

I love having kids make decorations for the room rather than teachers doing it.

What do you know about being on the radio or working at a station?

I want to have the job of a radio personality/talk show person...I'm not sure what it's called, or even how to get the job.

If you could tell me all about how much school you need to get this position, and anything else you know about the requirements, I would SO appreciate it!

I know this is quite possibly the most horribly worded question ever.

Basically what I want to know is how much school you need, and ANYTHING else that would be valuable to know.

Answer
I'll make a couple of suggestions as I've done in the past by posting the following essay about getting into radio. As to schools, many high school magnet programs are excellent (I don't know where in life you are, so I'll start there). Many colleges and universities with broadcast programs exist. Emerson College in Boston is one of the best and is run by a dear friend and excellent teacher. The Bayliss Foundation (below) is also something to keep in mind. Good Luck!
-a guy name duh

Qualifications to jock
No license these days. A good sense of flow, both audio and the entire package. An acceptable voice; quick sense of humor and/or recovery; the ability to handle several tasks simultaneously and take direction - lots of it. You should have a good understanding of how a studio operates, be good with digital equipment and be computer literate. If looking at a musical gig, a base knowledge of all types of music with expertise in at least one genere helps. This can all be be learned as you progress

To get in radio-in the US: Take it from one who started this way. If you want to try radio as a possible career choice, It's easy, really easier than most think. Go to all the local radio stations and tell them you're willing to do anything for little or no money (at first). Including interning (though those are usually for current college students in a broadcasting major). In a big city, that's going to be more difficult than a smaller town, but not impossible.

Maybe they need a Gofer, or a production or promotion assistant. In the old days you used to be able to 'hang out" at a station. That's still a possibility (usually at night) in a small town, but in a bigger city, it's hard because the stations are in office buildings. Anyway, so maybe you get a Gofer or promotion assistant job. Or maybe you're just the kid who hangs out and will go get burgers. Then as people leave for bigger better gigs, you move up. Radio's a very fluid business. People move a lot. Because the only way to really get promoted is to go to a bigger market.

Give it a try. You've got nothing to lose. Study all the stations where you live. Visit some of the websites I'll put below. Go around to all the stations (obviously start with the ones where you like the music - but don't leave out religious stations, foreign language stations etc. anything to get experience and something legit on your resume). Because you've studied the station and listened to their format, you'll impress them with your knowledge; go to the remote broadcasts and get to know the promotion people - the ones hanging banners, in the tent and handing out bumper stickers.

Sooner or later someone will leave and you can say, "Hey, I can do that, I want his job now that he's leaving." It's important you have a driverâs license & clean record, 'cause you'll be driving the station van. Go 4 it!

Also, many colleges and some high schools (especially magnet schools) have radio courses of study and there are private vocational schools like Columbia/Connecticut School of Broadcasting. Emerson College in Boston is the premiere Media College in the US.

If you are interested in a career in radio, check out this great scholarship program from the John Bayliss Broadcast Foundation. It could mean $5,000 towards your tuition!
www.baylissfoundation.org

Maybe you can turn another skill, with accounting, traffic, or engineering into an off-air career. Sales, though not as popular with young people, is a great way to get into radio even if you don't have a great voice. You'll also make more money and work steadier hours - but it's not as glamorous. Radio stations also need engineers, accountants and business managers.

US Universities and colleges with radio and/or broadcast programs:

Ithaca College, NY
Monmouth Univ.
Michigan State
SF State Univ.
Southern Il Univ
Newhouse School/Syracuse Univ, NY
Grady College, Univ of GA
Univ. of Miami, FL
Univ. of Nebraska
Arizona State
Cal Poly
Central Mich. Univ.
Emerson College, Boston

What you need to start a party rental business?

David Wall

Answer
1

Purchase enough equipment to be able to comfortably plan for several parties at once. Create an inventory for each type of party and the equipment you need for it. Paper tablecloths, napkins and plastic utensils are appropriate for some gatherings. Others require cloth tablecloths, flatware and real glassware.

2

Provide catering services or maintain a list of preferred caterers to recommend. Catering options would include everything from birthday cake and soft drinks to pizza and beer for a bachelor party, so make sure you have kitchen facilities capable of handling every request.

3

Have a variety of entertainment options. Clowns and magicians are in demand at children's parties while a string quartet would be more appropriate for an elegant dinner party. Ponies used to be the entertainment of choice at children's parties, but today kids expect a moon bounce.

4

Consider offering a banquet room on your premises for individuals and businesses who don't want to host their parties on their premises.

5

Negotiate with vendors for the best prices on food, supplies and equipment. Learn where the farmer's markets are, talk to wholesalers about bulk discounts and be aware of sales or special offers on items you use frequently.

6

Take all of your costs into account when figuring out the rates you'll charge. Overhead includes rent, utilities, labor costs, supplies, vehicles, fuel and insurance.

7

Purchase at least one large van. Buy a truck if you are providing tables and chairs or inflatables. Approach commercial laundries if you anticipate having to wash high volumes of tablecloths and napkins.

8

Hire waitstaff, laborers to set up and take down tables and tents, kitchen help and office staff like a bookkeeper and someone to keep track of orders and inventory. Work out details like how tips will be distributed.

9

Market your party rental business. Create a website. Run an ad in your local paper every week. Generate business by offering discounts to repeat customers. Word of mouth is important in party rentals, so create incentives for customers to spread the word like special offers.
