HELP - Maine Camping Sites?

Lauren

I'm looking to go camping this summer. Somewhere in Southern Maine or New Hampshire. The type of camp site where you bring a tent and stay for a few nights, or even a little cabin to rent.. totally secluded- only I want to have it be somewhere that there are many nature activites to do during the day. For the most part I'd like it to be basically cut off from streets and businesses, etc.
Any ideas?

Answer
Hermit Island is a large campground on the ocean (inlet of a bay actually) in southern Maine that allows tent camping and small pop-ups. It is on its own small island that does not allow anybody but registered campers on it.

Do you like camping?

Q. What kind of camping and activities while camping do you like?
Are motor homes and the large campers with everything camping or RV-ing?
Shouldn't Yahoo Answers have a camping catagory?

Answer
Its not camping if you dont stay in a tent. We love to camp, just dont leave home without the marshmellows. Nothings better then ghost stories around the camp fire. Look for the jiffy pop popcorn that pops up in the foil pan. Kids like to play tag with flashlights. And Marko-polo in the dark. Waterguns, football, swimming and fishing all are cool. We always take our 4-wheelers, and hike trails, treasure hunts of things you can find along the trails are fun too.
