Tent Camping...State Park/Private...Year Round campers?

AriesAlway

We are wanting to go camping soon...Ive checked online at private and state park campgrounds. How will "year round" campers treat us? It seems the private campgrounds have more socialable things to do, for the kids. But they also seem to have more RV campers, How will everyong be with us tent campers?

Answer
"Year round" campers will treat you just fine as long as you are friendly and courteous to them. Campers, as a whole, are a friendly and helpful group. I can't begin to count the times I have seen complete strangers offer to help put up a tent or dining canopy, give helpful tips on starting a campfire, local sites to visit, etc.

RV campers do not look down on tent campers. Personally, I know tent campers who look down on RVer's!! LOL

You are correct in saying that private campgrounds usually have more socialable things to do: pot luck dinners, game nights, hay rides, and the list goes on and on.

When did your kid leave the crib for a big kid bed?

Cyn

My DD Jade is 2 years and 5 months old. Just an hour ago she was yelling for her dad and tried to climb out of the crib, which she would have had I not stopped her. She had no problem getting her leg up and over and swinging the other one over, relying Solly on her arms and me to keep her from going over, lol she's freakishly strong.

Should I just get a crib canopy/tent thingy to keep her in or she we convert her crib to a toddler bed? If we put her in the toddler bed I don't want her climbing out and banging on the door for our attention. She used to do that when we co-slept which is one of the reason I put her in her crib.
We share a room. I won't put a gate up out of fear she'll break thur it and tumble down the stairs. I watch her thur a monitor so I see that she wakes up sometimes at night and goes back to sleep within a minute or two. I'm afraid that if she can just climb out of the bed she will but for safety reasons it seems I have no choice but to convert her crib.

Answer
1 1/2 a colorful kid friendly bed will make her wanna sleep in her own bed, lots of encouragement and a fun routine. but then again there are kids who'd rather stick with you during bedtime. and there are those who regress. see what's best for you and your child.

How to make a canopy tent?

Kortney Ba

I'm going to be having a haunt fest in my front yard for halloween this year and i want to make a tent canopy for the kids to walk through. I know i could buy one but they are 400 plus and i don't have that kind of money to waste on one thing. So i need to know what is another alternative i can do to build one. Could i use wood and a large black tarp? something along the lines of that.

Answer
look under tent rental or party supply store , see if you rent one cheap.

How can I make a bed tent/canopy for a 3 year old?

Jessica

We have been temporarily draping a king size sheet over my son's kitchen and workbench to make a tent over his toddler bed. I would like a more permanent solution than this as the sheet never stays in place and Mommy is tired of "rebuilding' a ten 10x a night. I have 10 yards of muslin. I was thinking of hanging the fabric from eye hooks on the ceiling, but then I have to wonder if my monkey-child will scale the fabric (he would). Anyone have any safe, practical suggestions for making a toddler bed a tent that doesn't involve buying one?

Answer
You have the right idea.... my kids loved that tent for many years... i used to attatch it to the bunkbed.... I would use velcro... that way it will kind of tear away with really tearing.....

My friends & I are planning a party for my birthday next month.
We have parties every weekend, so we don't want it to just be another party.
We really want to have a fun theme that everyone will want to participate in.
Any suggestions?!

THANKS :)

Answer
pajama party, paint party, an era like 80's or 60's or even 1900's so you could wear cool dresses, a disco, you could have a kids party with like jelly and ice-cream and a bouncy castle, a hippie theme, or a movie theme like pirates of the Caribbean, a celebrity theme like you could all go as a different celeb like marilyn Monroe or paris hilton and decorate the place up to look like an awards ceremony, a toy theme like dress up as barbie and or a teddy or action man, or just a general fancy dress party, a space age theme, a futur theme, get a canopy or big tent to have the party outside, you could have a ball and you could all wear fancy clothes!

What are the different types of tents?

Jack

There is something to consider before deciding to buy a tent for there are large variety of tents. Can any experienced one intro. the styles and your favorite style or creative style ones?

Answer
ââDome Tent
The dome tent: These tents owing to their shape are most spacious and can be divided into rooms as well. Can fit a single person or a family as they come in both individual and family sizes. Easy to carry by backpackers, it is very popular in camping. Its shape makes it more heat efficient. The tents have a ârainflyâ which is water proof and helps in keeping the interior dry. So depending on what type of group you have Dome tents have various options. Even the windows come in clear or mesh options. Dividers are available if you need more privacy in the family dome tents. The family tents also have the option of tafetta walls to make it more sturdy. Dome tents are very easy to move if you decide to shift to any other location close by. The most important thing is it is very stable in windy conditions.
ââcabin tent
The cabin tent: Well, if you plan to go car camping and need room to stand then the cabin tent is your best bet. The cabin tents are big enough that you can actually park your car inside it. It is a huge tent that was designed for camping with your car. Some of them stand as tall as 8 ft giving it the room to have a party as well. . These tents are made with heavy material which helps for long durable. These are also exclusively used for hosting backyard parties, or for bigger family groups that go on camping.
ââgeodesic tents
The geodesic tent: These tents were introduced by the Buckminster Fuller. He was an engineer, author, inventor. Mr. Fuller was the one who introduced the geodesic dome in buildings. The geodesic dome is based on âtensegrityâ structures such as tetrahedron, octahedron which are a net of continuous structures that do not touch each other but form closely bound spheres which is just enough to not make them touch each other but also have enough tension in them to make them separate spatially to form a sphere.
The geodesic tents have become popular because of its design as it requires minimum material and provides a large space. This concept is specially useful in tents as there is a central pole which gives it additional strength in high wind conditions as there are no weak points and is easy for one person to set it up. Geodesic tents are heat efficient and spacious like the other tents but their main selling point is the high strength and stability they provide.
ââTunnel tents
Tunnel tents: Tunnel tents or Mutli-hoop tents as they are also called are tents used both in camping, as a kids play area, even as tents for pets. Due to the ring structure in these tents they can give a good height. These are similar to A-frame tents but slightly heavier. A good tunnel tents must be at least 3 lbs in weight including the poles, guy lines and canopy panels This type of camping tent is a large standing free room tent. The tent is waterproof and is very easy to assemble. Another benefit of this tent is it has the capable of shedding heavy snow.
ââFolding tents
Folding tents: Folding tents are also known as popup canopies or instant gazebos are incredibly handy for events, festivals, promotions. Being a lightweight spacious and easy to setup as well as fold up is an ideal choice for moving around and quick set up. These tends usually do not need to be staked down but can sometimes require skylines attached to tress or stakes. Folding tent is easy to move to other places when it needs to be shifted within a short frame of time. It is ideal for hunting or camping.
ââ Umbrella Style tents
Umbrella style tents: They are like umbrella because they have only one supporting pole in the Centre of the tent. They are simple and light, but not the type of tent you want to be in during camping or hunting. Mostly ideal for sitting under on a beach or in the backyard for a party to have shade while you are in the sun.
