Do your kids build forts in the house?

yahooey

What is considered a fort to you? How elaborate are they in your house?

Answer
Of course! We have one up in our downstairs now. It's pretty much a permanent fixture actually, the girls sleep there more than they do in their own room. The one up now is pretty elaborate. They've colonized our big 8-person camping tent, dragged a queen mattress down 2 flights of stairs from their bed, that's under the blanket tent, the top of which is attached to the sofa and extends to drape over the TV and games system. The younger kids' play kitchen holds up the other part of it, they've got all the extra blankets tied together with knitting yarn.

I would have died and gone to heaven if I was allowed to make a fort at all, let alone one like that, so I don't rain on their parade. I help and add on to it when I see a way, LOL! We can fit our entire family + kids' friends in there. This thing is pretty extended.

We're working on rebuilding their treehouse my husband made them at our old house, we took it apart when we moved and they're itching to have it back again, I'm sure if we get it finished this weekend, they'll be cramming as many overnights in there as they can before it turns too cold.

What are some cool things to do with kids ages 1-3?

I have two little sisters who i babysit all the time. One of my sisters are one.And the other is three.I just can't seem to find enough things in a day for them to do.So basically i would like to know what kids their age would like to do!

Answer
We used to love making forts and tents as little ones. Anything from using blankets and chairs to newspapers or cardboard boxes and stuff. If you roll up newspaper real tight and use a little tape it makes good tent poles. Home made playdough was fun too, there are lots of recipes online. Blowing homemade bubbles. Having an impromptu earth day, picking up garbage in the neighborhood while taking a walk with the wagon or stroller. Going to a park. Free activities in the area, storytime at the library, etc... Listening to music, dancing, making a music video. Make helping out with the housework fun. Google some toddler activities online and you'll probably find lots more!
Good Luck!

I'm babysitting my 8 year old boy cousin and I know nothing about kids. Things to do?

Me

I'm 25 and literally never spent any time with kids. I don't even know what to expect out of an 8 year old and I've only met him twice. Anyone got any tips or ideas for building rapport with him beyond just putting him in front of the TV?

Answer
Ask him what he'd like to do.
He will looove the idea that you will play any game he picks out.
Especially the ones his parents don't usually play with him.

Take him outside, and play.
Just act goofy.

Make up a silly game

Bring some playdough!
Sit and play with it too, he'll like that

Make a tent or fort out of blankets/sheets.
Or just under that table
It can be a clubhouse just for you and him
Then you two can play some boardgames in your new clubhouse=)

8 year olds aren't hard to please.
He will be up for anything
As long as you are fun and outgoing, and willing to play he will have a blast!

What are the best RV campgrounds in Central Florida to bring small children to?

Beachy Kee

My husband and I recently got an RV and have been taking our 2 small boys camping for about the past year. What are the best campgrounds that are the most kid friendly. We have 1 year old and 3 year old boys.

Answer
If I could I would stay at the Disney Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. You can stay there and enjoy all the ammenities of a Disney resort without even having to pay to go to the parks. There is a pool, horseback riding, tennis, archery, crusing on the Disney lakes, petting zoo, playgrounds and so much more. Be sure to click the link on the sources section, for much more detailed info from www.allears.net.

Here's a little more info:
There are 788 conventional campsites at FW located in 20 loops (100 through 2000). Most sites are fairly secluded from one another by a generous growth of brush and trees between sites. All campsites are back-ins and are a combination of paved driveway, which range in length from 25 to 60 feet, and sandy pad. Each site is approximately 25 feet wide and comes with a picnic table and charcoal grill. All sites have electricity (20/30/50 amps) and city water. There are 695 full hookup sites that also provide sewer. The 90 partial hookup sites, primarily used by tent campers and those with tent trailers, are located on loops 1500 and 2000.

It used to be that you couldn't have a campfire at the sites, because they worried about people letting them get out of control etc. But! this policy changed.

You can bring in your own contained campfire unit. Typically, stores call them firepits or outdoor fireplaces. It's a solid metal bottom on short legs with metal mesh sides and a top. A mesh top is okay at all campsites EXCEPT any of those that are creekside. If you have a creekside spot, you must have a solid metal top for your firepit. This is to better prevent embers from spreading to the greater amount trees and foliage (and wildlife) that are around the creeks. For example, the creek/dog walk along Loop 300 has a large wooded area with deer, eagles, armadillos and more making their home there.

Of course, Fort Wilderness also has the Campfire Program where you can enjoy campfires as well as everything offered at this special program.

How can I entertain a group of toddlers?

Nicole

I'm 16 and I recently started working in a nursery. I usually have a group of 2 - 4 kids. How can I entertain them without having the just sitting in front of the tv?

Answer
Set up a coloring table
Play play dough
Play children's music ( my 2 year old loves to dance )
Name colors
Have story time
Play dress up ( get them excited about trick or treating)
Have a pots & pans band
Set up a water table/sensory table,
Do finger paintings ( if you have proper coverings )
Make rock pets
For girls play dolls
For boys play trains
Set up a ball pit tent
Make a blanket fort
Make snack time with them, show them how to spread PB on crackers with a spoon
Get magnet letters and numbers and spell out small words

There is so much you can do with children this age :) I hope you liked some of my ideas

How can I make a big fort in my room?

Stacey

I have a small room, and I wanna make a fort, Just for fun(and some extra privacy from the rents). I made one before with thumbtacks but i was so scared they would fall out and I wouldn't realize it and get it stuck in my body, So I was wondering if you could give some suggestions. I do have light, long sheets to use, But to hold them up, Idk what to use.

Answer
when i was a kid, we made really cool forts with blankets or sheets and made a tent with them from couches. in your room, just put one end of the sheet on the bed and use books or other stuff to hold it to the top edge of the bed. then, put the other end held down on the ground or up on a shelf or something to hold it up like a tent. get a flashlight and a scary book to read and few marshmallows.
