Answer
Wow-what a lovely idea!

INVITES:

For the girls, print your Tinkerbell party invitations on sheets of vellum paper. Then attach each invitation to a cardstock with a ribbon.
Tinkerbell The invitations can say "Fairies, fairies, did you hear? (Your child's name) Tinkerbell birthday party is coming near." Include date, time, and address. You can end the invitations with "Wear your fairy best and we'll see you fairy soon."
Decorations

For the outside Tinkerbell party decorations, start with a big sign stretched on the fence or between trees. It can say "Gateway to Neverland, Second Star to the Right!", and hang a large star over the sign.

Create Mermaid Lagoon on one side of the yard. There you can have long crepe paper streamers in shades of blue and lots of tropical-fish cutouts (hanging from trees). Have balloons "floating around" in shades of pale blue and clear to simulate water bubbles. Place a kiddie pool filled with ice as a beverage cooler.

Create Pirate's Cove on the other side of the yard. (Do this only if you have boys attending the party.) Make a cave out of brown packing paper and black streamers that the kids could run through. Mount a poster of Peter Pan fighting Hook.

Cut a refrigerator box into the shape of a ship, and put it around the pole or support beam. Then tie a sail and pirate flag to the pole with a rope. Put up a tent and name it "Lost Boys Hideout."

You can make each room of your house a different part of Neverland. For example the entry can be Hangman's Tree: hang a rope noose from a coat stand with some dangling skeletons. The Living room is Skull Rock with toy pirates and boats.

The dining room becomes an Indian Camp complete with pictures/drawings of teepees and Indians taped to the wall. Make stairs your Crocodile Creek - with toy crocodiles peeking up from between the steps and railings.

Tape 'glow-in-the-dark' stars onto the ceiling. Hang ribbon halos and wands all over the Tinkerbell birthday party area to give it a festive air. Scatter plastic butterflies around the room. Mount Tinkerbell posters on the walls.

Cover your Tinkerbell birthday party table with a theme cloth. Sprinkle shiny confetti on the table for "pixie dust." Tie colorful balloons to chairs. Hang a personalized "Happy Birthday" banner nearby.

Guest Arrival and Introductory Activities

As your Tinkerbell birthday party guests arrive, provide the girls with fairy wings and wand, and the boys - with pirate bandanas and eye patches.

*Guess How Many: Fill a jar with jellybeans, and have the kids guess how many candies are in the jar. Give the jellybeans to a child who can guess the closest to the amount, and give the leftovers to other players.

*Candy Necklaces: Fill several bowls with doughnut-shaped candy and cereal. Provide the Tinkerbell birthday party guests with necklace strings and let them create their own edible necklaces.

*Tinker Bell Door Hanger Activity: You can get a Door Hanger Activity kit from a party store. Have the kids decorate their door hangers with coloring pens.

Favors

For your Tinkerbell party favors, hand out such items as wands, feather rings, Tinkerbell blowouts, sticker sheets, pirate eye patches, golden coins, and so on.

Tinkerbell Birthday Party Games

*Sifting for Gems: Before the Tinkerbell birthday party, fill a shoebox with sand or white cornmeal, and hide plastic rhinestones in the box. At game time, pass the shoebox around so each child gets a couple of gems by sticking a hand in the sand and letting it sift through her fingers to reveal a rhinestone.

*I believe in Fairies: Pick one person to be Tinker Bell, and give her a magic wand. The rest of the kids should run off. When Tinker Bell tags players with a wand, they must go to a designated area, clap their hands continuously and say "I believe in fairies" 10 times before they're free again.

The round stops at the end of a prearranged time limit. Then another child gets to be Tink. Give prizes to Tinker Bell who catches the most players.

*Pass the Fairy Wand: Tell the children to sit in a circle. Explain that when the music starts they must pass the wand as quickly as possible. When the music stops, the child holding the wand is out of the game. Let that child keep the wand. Hand out another wand and turn the music back on to continue the game.

The game ends when everyone is out, and everyone has a wand. (Hint: have a few crowns for boys if they don't want the wands.)

*Fairy Detective: For this Tinkerbell birthday party game, you'll need pillows and a small ball or marble.

Children take turns sitting on four pillows arranged in a row on the floor. While sitting on the pillows, each player must guess which one the pea (a small ball) is under. Move the ball after each turn while the contestant is out of the room, or looking away.

Good Luck

Mommies! I need your help with the shoestring song!?

Bright B

What are the lyrics or how does the song go that guides little kiddies in tying their shoes? My 3 year old wants to learn and I think the song would be a great way. All I can remember is over something, through something, something about a rabbit?!??!?!? Help me!

Answer
Let me begin by saying I am someone who does work in a childcare setting. I am going to share with you some of my resources and I do hope it helps you with this frustrating skill. I know when it came to teaching my son I got very frustrated with it, but I finally have a friend help him learn. The reason she could help him was they were both left handed so he kept trying to do things different than I did it.
Introduction
Many children get frustrated when trying to learn how to tie shoelaces. While there's no miraculous solution other than patience and lots of practice, there are ways that you can help your child acquire this useful skill.
Instructions
Difficulty: Challenging
Steps
1
Step One
Wait until your child is ready. Most children develop the dexterity needed to tie shoelaces between the ages of 4 and 6. Girls are often ready to learn slightly earlier than boys.
2
Step Two
Make sure your child knows right from left before you try to teach him how to tie his shoes.
3
Step Three
Choose one method of lace tying, and teach it consistently. Make sure that everyone who may be trying to help your child learn this skill is offering the same method. Otherwise, he may get confused.
4
Step Four
Make up a game or poem to help your child remember the necessary steps.
Criss Cross Tying Shoes
(tune: Splish Splash I was taking a Bath)
Criss Cross and go under the bridge
Then you got to pull it tight.
Make a loop but keep a long tail
That is how to do it right
Then you take the other string
and you wrap it 'round the loop
Pull it through the hole
Now you got the scoop
Criss Cross and go under the bridge (this is where you tie the loops together)
Now you made a Double Knot!
Sad Rabbit
Once there was a rabbit that was very sad because his ears were so long and narrow that he stepped on them all the time. One day a fairy landed on the bunny's head. She lifted up the bunny's ears and crossed them over like an x. Then she put one ear through the bottom of the x and pulled.
Next, she made each long ear into a loop and made another x like before. She put an ear under that x and pulled again. From then on the bunny remembered how to tie his ears into a bow, and he lived happily every after.
Teepee Tying Story
A Native American made a teepee (pull lace up and cross one under the other) and it collapsed! (pull first "knot" down). So he started another, (make first loop for bow) and he took this string and went around it, (wrap other lace around loop) and went inside, (push lace under new loop) and there he had it! Two Tents! (pull loops for bow) .
This story is great for a group activity where the children can help one another follow the story, and if you make pictures to go with the story the kids can follow the steps by themselves! The story also helps to limit the child's frustration with learning to tie because they are helping the Native American to build a teepee and if they fail it is the Native American who needs more help!
A Story For Tying Shoes
My Shoelace Blues I've tried and tried to tie you, shoe. I've never done it yet. A loop that flip-flops on the floor Is as close as I can get. I've practiced on spaghetti. I've practiced on the mop. I've practiced on my sister until she made me stop. So here's the loop again, shoe. I'll hold it with my thumb. I'll wrap the other end around... And yank it into bows. It's done
Gold Shoes
Paint an old pair of sneakers with gold spray paint and lace with bright colored laces. All the children will want to practice tying their shoes.

5
Step Five
Make sure that you and your child are side by side rather than opposite each other when you demonstrate. That way he'll be able to copy your movements rather than mirror them.
6
Step Six
Give your child lots of praise when he gets it right
