The elementary school book fair theme this fall is "Safari"...so we'd like to put elephant foot prints on the hall floors leading the kids to the room where the book fair is set up. It would be nice if the prints could last at least 2 weeks or more....but are also easily removed (or the custodians will kill me!)

Answer
I have temporary footprints all over my house... I just forget to take my shoes off after I went through mud.
They can last up to two weeks or more it really just depends on when I break out the vaccuum cleaner.

In your case its a little difficult because your going to need to get an elephant and then make him run through mud before you let him into the building but it could be fun for the kids if you do it during the day on your lunch break.
I mean think about how fun it would be if you were a kid and you saw an elephant walk by the classroom and then after class you run out to the hall to see whats going on. Plus if you get it done fast you could be like "Theres no elephant here...." and they might hook you up on a price.. maybe like an hourly rate. I'm not sure where to rent an Elephant but I would start calling the same place you rent tents, chairs and moonwalks from because those people rent EVERYTHING.

oh yeah if your still reading this. Go to autozone and pick up some of that window paint you write on cars with.
Sometimes it can be hard to clean up but it will last a long time. I would try a baby elephant footprint first in a corner that nobody cares about and leave it for a few days then try cleaning it up to make sure it comes up and doesnt stain the tile.

Answer
I would just take a look at amazon.com and browse through the other toys they have listed. There are TONS of great toys out there for one year olds. Here are some other suggestions, as well as a link to get you started.

look at the "Customers who bought this also bought:" list.

- A toy baby or doll that the child can start to interact with in pretend play.
- Tea set
- Dollhouse
- Wooden or plastic kids size table and chairs
- A bike or ride on wagon is great fun for this age
- Good quality paint, brushes and large art paper
- A small tent and tunnel can be used inside or outside
- Toy farm house with animals and a tractor is good for learning different animals and the noises they make
- Mega blocks - it will be a while until the toddler is building robots and buildings out of blocks but she will love destroying what ever mom or dad creates and will eventually start to put 2 blocks together
- Dress up box - this box can be added to at each birthday. At age one having a few crazy hats, scarves and fake glasses can be fun.
- Music is an excellent gift for this age group, the toddler will soon be doing actions to songs, dancing and even singing along to familiar tunes
- Books are a great gift at any age
