Austin's Landing RV Park Resort - 11 reviews - Place page

Surfside Beach RV Park - 2 reviews - Place page

"The Bolivar Peninsula may be where you want to go. There are over thirty miles of beach to camp on. You can drive on all of the beaches.

After the flashing light when you get off of the ferry(at Fisherman's Cove motel), go about a mile or so and you will find Rettilon Rd (nolitter backwards). Turn right. It takes you to the beach and a good area to camp.

One thing new is a County Beach Parking Permit. You can buy them at almost any store or real estate office on the Peninsula. It's only ten bucks. The sheriffs don't really enforce it unless you are creating trouble or they want to roust you. The permit is not needed for driving on the beach, just parking.

Campfires are allowed but not big bonfires. Don't camp in front of someone's beachhouse. It bugs them. Unless you really like to party, avoid the part of the beach in Crystal beach known as the "ZOO". Sheriffs work this area hard and there are a lot problems there. Remember, no glass containers and no beer after 2am."

Galveston Island State Park has tent camping, screened shelters, and RV-related camping.

Galveston Island State Park

Galveston TX 77554

Galveston Island State Park was damaged by Hurricane Ike. Beachside and Bayside camping are open. The Beachside Day Use Area is also open and has tables, grills, and rinse off showers. Restrooms and showers are available on the beach side and restrooms without showers are available on the bay side. Go to our fee page for specific facility & fee information.

06/14/2011 - The Park is under a burn ban. No wood fires are allowed. Charcoal & containerized fuel stoves (i.e. propane) are currently allowed for cooking. Contact the Park for more information.

Where can I take the kids to camp in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex?
